Imagine if we had this guy instead of KO? I feel entitled to make this thread since I was the first to hype him on CB when danny scouted him in Greece.... :P

Not so fast rondohondo, you waited until Danny scouted him in Greece? I made this this thread before America even knew how to spell his name!

My ideal scenario would involve Pierce and Garnett retiring at the end of the season, drafting Adetokunbo in 2013, find our way to the 2014 lottery and be in a position to draft someone like a Julius Randle or Dakari Johnson. Fill out the roster with some free agent signings and have a seasoned Adetokunbo join up to throw out a young roster lead by the evil genius himself, Rondo.

I was pulling for you until you mentioned Dakari Johnson.

Ironically the only two guys in that draft I remember specifically wanting to avoid were Kelly Olynyk and Giannis Antetekounpo.

I wanted Muhammad schroeder or Dieng for whatever it's worth.

You know who else went off tonight while the Bucks were losing to the Knicks? Avery Bradley, a guy Ainge drafted 19th and is averaging almost 20 ppg.  You guys only want what you cant have.

At the time Dakari Johnson was beasting the AAU scene and was considerred a top prospect in the coming years. I was really high on Randle though and stick with it to this day.

Don't claim to be Nostradamus by any stretch of the imagination but I was big on Gobert and Giannis. This year I'm putting my eggs in the Frank Ntilikina basket so we'll see how that turns out.

You are right, let's thank Danny :
- For robbing the Nets
- For drafting Rondo, Bradley, Smart, Brown, etc...
- For getting Crowder
- For getting Thomas instead of tanking.
- For making a speedy and exciting rebuild.

I cringed when we took KO too, he has a nice basketball IQ and some skills but he is soft and has too many uneven performances.   He is fine if you accept him for what he is, a backup center who can spread the floor and distribute the ball.   He is not a world beater or star in the making.  I would like to be wrong about that, but I suspect I am not.

Will the folks flocking the post proof that they wanted Giannis, be willing to post who they wanted in 2010 before we picked Avery Bradley?

Post a link that shows that you wanted Giannis before that year's draft. Then you can complain all you want.

Until then, shut the heck up.

If Giannis Adetokunbo is available at 16, I'd love that pick.   Not ready to help next year, but no one is at that spot, so might as well go upside, which he has in spades.  I know the C's have been looking at him in the very least.

Even tho I'd prefer Giannis (obviously), I'm still glad we have Kelly and hope we keep him around.
as tiring as these "we should have picked Giannis" threads are, TP to you for providing some backup to your Giannis preference before draft

I signed up the day after the 2010 draft, so I can't, but if you want I can dig up proof that I wanted Draymond Green in 2012.

But please don't research my Jujuan Johnson advocation in 2011.  I will never claim to be perfect.  For instance, I thought Olynyk couldn't make it in the NBA, but he's an adequate rotational big.  We would want him if we didn't have him.  But since we do have him, we want something else.  Just because there were better picks that could have been made in 2013, that doesn't mean he was a bad one.

It could be worse, people. Look at Minnesota during this four-year stretch:

2007: Corey Brewer over Joakim Noah
2008: OJ Mayo over Westbrook
2009: Rubio over Steph Curry
2010: Wes Johnson over Boogie

These were all close calls, as those next guys were taken 1-2 picks after the Minny pick.

To Minnesota's credit, they traded Mayo for Love on draft night.  Westbrook would have been better, but coming away with Love from that draft was a fine outcome.

To their greater discredit, they had consective picks in 2009.  Their first pick was Rubio, as you mentioned, but the next pick was also theirs, and they selected Jonny Flynn.  Steph was picked immediately after Flynn.

I believe you mean Ricky Rubio and Johnny Flynn over Steph Curry and Demar Derozan.

Wasn't posting in 2010 but I remember being happy with the Bradley pick, I wanted Eric Bledsoe but when he was taken one pick earlier I distinctly remember thinking if we couldn't get Bledsoe then Bradley's the guy.

Bradley had the lowest body fat percentage in the draft and was ranked number 1 over John Wall at times when they were in high school. Danny deserves credit for drafting him but he was pretty much BPA at 19 that year.
