Blake is coming here.  It's quiet because details are still be ing worked out and Danny doesn't want to give up anything more than he has to.  The media can't be trusted. If it falls through there is really no reason to let it leak.  It does anyways.  It just puts pressure on the celtics to make the deal and other teams can use that against us.

You are telling me that all the major reporters that follow teams in LA and BOS cannot verify any of this rumor, and in some cases have flat out refuted it, but we should believe it anyway because twitter scrubs are more reliable?

What's funny about all these rumors is this:

People believe whatever affirms them: You want Griffin, so you buy into the rumors. You hate Griffin, and all of a sudden some newspaper reporter is always telling the truth.

American society started slipping when we quit looking for facts, and started looking for whatever supports what we want to believe. We want to be affirmed, not informed.

Using basketball rumors of all things to springboard into a condemnation of society as a whole is a pretty striking example of preferring affirmation over information itself.

Not disagreeing or agreeing, but that is a fascinating connection. Can you elaborate on what you mean?

Let me elaborate on what I meant with this:

Quote
Look this is a major rumor, so if we get anymore personal sniping I'm just going to temp ban the culprits instead of locking it. So cut it out.

I mean get back on topic to EVERYONE. So if its not about Griffin and/or the C's its done.

It's really hard for me to see this deal occurring.  Griffin has such a high salary, it takes a lot of outgoing salary to match.  Meanwhile, Gay as an outgoing piece for Sacramento doesn't make enough for all of the salary to go back that direction from Boston.

Still, it could be a cheaper alternative, because Doc doesn't like draft picks and prospects, and Gay can't have nearly the acquisition cost of some players, so Sacramento shouldn't need as much in return.  But then again, I can't remember the last time a rumored trade occurred remotely resembling the original rumors, especially one that had been rumored for several days.  Dwight to LA a few years ago sounded like it would happen, but not as a huge four-team deal.
What saltlover says is IMO important to keep in mind: it takes no inside knowledge to suspect which players might be traded, and ofc the journalists speculate with that little that is obvious. But beyond that no one rly knows the details until/if the deal gets finalized.

For instance, remember what was happening the year we traded Rondo. Many rumours were going around (Simmons for instance, """predicted""" we would trade Rondo to NYK) but iirc no one predicted the Dallas trade and what the C's would get in return.

The only drawback is that Blake isn't the same draw KG was from a personal perspective moreso with his freak athleticism.  Tommy should get a kick out of him in green.  The idea of a tough guy pf has definately changed over the years.

Any deal w/ LAC I'd love to see us bring back the captain for a farewell ride.

Blake & Pierce match salary w/ AB and Amir.   Might give Doc pause though as they are a bit thin at 3.   I could see negotiations stalling while Doc double checks that he can still add Rudy Gay as well.  Might not be possible unless Sac is a 3rd team, which complicates things ....

On second thought...  I'm dreaming this isn't really happening.   At least these Twitter hacks are keeping us entertained.  I'll give em that.

It's hard to believe Doc would give us Blake for Rudy Gay, Bradley or amir  and a pick.  But logically the clippers are going to lose him. Bradley is also a Doc kind of player.  Depends who goes where.   Plus a pick.  Very different than us gettng a pick for an over the hill KG though.   The clippers may be losing Blake though.

I PM'ed you.

...on topic if this thing really does shake out, I'd be really curious to see just what the hell Danny was trying to pull off that got us Griffin without any BRK picks trading hands.  There'd have to be a first in there somewhere, but it sounds like Danny's really trying to exploit leverage - teams like LAC and OKC have a greater motivation to ditch their stars before they leave for nothing than we have to acquire them.

These dunks by Griffin are insane.  I purposely looked for a playoff matchup to see how he performs in the playoffs.  He doesn't seem like a great defender but his sheer strength and freakishness is ridiculous. Plus he's a good passer.

and at the end of the day for fans, that is important. we dont really affect ainge's decisions on trades, nor CBS' offensive schemes or rotations, do we?

we are as a group here at cb, voyeurs. we watch, we cheer, we partake in an activity by watching. regardless of the outcome of the proposed trades, it was a fun ride for me.

i hope i dont get too invested in the rumors, either in favor or against. it keeps the disappointment to a manageable level that way. but i do enjoy reading the rumors and getting a least a little fun and hope from them.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

The clippers probably really do want that pick back. It is 2019 at which point Paul will be what 34, 35?  I don't think they will still be contending in 2018-2019 with Jordan and Paul.

Ainge has good reason to be paranoid about the media. They screwed him by leaking KG/Doc to Clippers, which technically was illegal. Never verified. Stern screwed the Celtics just on the media rumor. Couldn't trade with Clips for a year.

The mainstream media is getting nothing until the deal is done.

It's indeed entertaining, and whether anyone believes the sources or not is really irrelevant.

And it is a bit of hope, along with Horford's signing, for the coming season.

I had to look this up just now, but that pick is lotto protected and turns into a 2022 2nd if it's not conveyed by 2020.  So it's not quite as valuable if they do anticipate struggling.
