I doubt that there have been any discussions concerning Cousins, otherwise it would have been leaked.  Extrapolating this rumor from Wyc's use of "difficult" is kind of a joke.

My impression is Wyc has opened the pocketbook again. He closed it after the championship in '08. Wouldn't re-sign Posey, then Perkins later. Key players who were part of their chemistry. In between, Perk got hurt at a critical time against the lucky Heat, which cost them another Championship. And then KG got hurt. What if James got hurt? Curtains for the Cavs. You got to be lucky.

But anyways, Wyc wants to spend, and so they will be OK. It's time to win again.

He could have been taking about Okafor and given the rumor mill, that seems more likely.

I'm going with "wait and see." When was the last time that a leaked trade rumor was actually consummated?

I could see the Cs making a play for Rudy Gay

Not based on a stitch of Celtics rumor but rather guy feelings and the facts that A. DA is known for bringing in player who are not logical roster fits "Turner". B. He fits the teams cap plans (has a player option that he wont pick up next off-season)

Im not sure what his trade value is but if attainable without touching the key rotational player or young guy and only using maybe a lower 1st round pick a couple second  and say Hunte then Gay could be an interesting option at stretch 4.

Projecting IT,AB,Crowder, Gay and Horford vs Irving, Smith, Lebron, Love and Thompson  its easy to see the logic of the acquisition.

I don't see why it would have been leaked, since most of the C's trades haven't been leaked at all.

And FWIW it was the guys on CSNNE who said one of their "sources" texted as Wyc made that comment, suggesting it was Boogie.

CSNNE isn't referring to any texting sources without knowing who that is and what his or her standing is to have access to such info.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think that Okafor is available but Danny has some concerns about him that we were underestimating.

I'd say that Jimmy Butler is still the number 1 target and always has been, and that we have a legitimate option to trade for Okafor, but we are using that as pressure on the Bulls to move Butler.

Now that the Bulls have Rondo and Wade, we aren't going to see Butler moved until at least mid year, when the egos of Wade, Jimmy and Rondo clash with Hoiberg- but even then that would be pretty early and it would probably be next offseason/draft for a potential Butler move- when the Nets pick is more locked in to the bottom 5.

Danny could be waiting for that moment too.

Will be interesting to see if he Danny caves and gets Okafor before this season or if he waits till problems arise in Chicago.
Personally I would assume he sees problems arising with the 76ers rotation with Embid, Noel, Simmons and Okafor and Okafor particularly hurting spacing for Simmons who is now the King Duckling of that squad.
Okafor's price will surely go down as the season goes by. Regardless of what happens with the trio in Chicago, the price for Butler will remain relatively the same.

Patience is key and it could be another 6 months before we see any more Okafor/Butler serious trade rumors.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

DeMarcus Cousins ended the season at 308lb... Weighing in at 275 now. He's been first guy in the gym all Summer.

He's had known weight issues.  Before he was drafted, he was measured at 16.4% body fat and reported to the combine weighing more than he did in college.  Last month, he said he's lost 20 pouinds since the season ended, so maybe he has dropped even more weight.

I could see him becoming fat and lazy on offense and living on the perimeter like Rasheed Wallace later in his career.

If I'm Philly, I'd hang onto Okafor and see how he plays with Ben Simmons.

Yeah. For all the hand-wringing about Philly being over-stocked with bigs, it makes sense to see how they mesh before making a move.

Not to mention all three of their young bigs have injury issues ranging from significant to career-threatening. The odds that all are healthy and competing for big minutes this year are very low.

I think the only reason for Philly to move Okafor is if they're more worried about his health or development prospects than they are letting on. And Danny is surely aware of that.

Guess it'll also depend on the Saric situation.

It sure is Cousins but its not gonna be this summer. We will witness Boogie getting agitated with his coach and front office. He will demand a trade before February deadline n that's when we make the move. Future picks, Bradley, Crowder n a possible few other will be the bait. Brooklyn pretty much handed us another trophy giving us all them picks. We will beat GSW in the finals this coming year. I've been right on every prediction thus far except 2. I was wrong about having 0% chance of getting Durant because we were in it till the end and I expected him to stay in OKC n he didn't therefore I was dead wrong about that. I was also wrong about us signing any major free agents n we got Al Horford, again I was dead wrong. I don't care if I get scrutinized by people, I don't have feelings so insults don't bother me. I do want what's best for this team and keeping Jaylen Brown is key to our future. Once we land Boogie everyone is gonna line up to come to Boston. I predict we go over the cap next off season and are forced to pay luxury tax like we did when Garnet/Ray came over then we got Posey n that was the perfect combination to beat LA. Brown will come on faster then we think. He will be a force in the playoffs.

We sweep NYN in 1st round with their sorry team, we go 6 games against Toronto n go to ECF and we go 5 games against CLE n go to finals where we win the championship against GSW in 7 we are the only team that can take them to the brink. I honestly think Bradley-Brown-Horford-Cousins-IT is enough to equalize that GSW superteam. Now let me have the bashing cause I'm ready
