Or sign and trade them Sully and Zeller.
They could sign these guys for peanuts if they wanted too. Why would they trade for them?
You can't get Sully for peanuts. If he wanted peanuts he would just take the QO and be unrestricted next summer. And if he accepted a very low offer for some reason, Boston would just match and then trade him to the highest bidder. RFAs don't go for peanuts unless they are absolute kryptonite.
Yup, if he got a very low offer, he'll certainly prop his value by taking the QA and sitting buried on the bench in Boston.
Keep in mind guys also that offer sheets need be for at least 2 guaranteed years. What this would mean is that he would miss out on next years salary cap bump to try and get a good contract. So not only would he be committing himself to at least 2 years at low salary, he'll probably be missing out on the best opportunity to make a lot of money.
So yeah, I don't see him accepting a low money offer sheet. He'll either stick around with the QO or get a big one-year deal. Of course, he might not do anything and force the Cs to renounce his QO by waiting it out (very much doubt Danny sticks around with that amount of cap space unused when he has a lot of bodies to juggle for roster space) hence becoming an UFA this year. But the market might have dried up by then. So we'll see how it goes.
Of course if Danny convinces all 2nd rounders to get an non-NBA contract, then the scenario and leverage changes.
