The Bulls are such a hateable team now. They're gonna win 45 games and lose in the first round and I'm going good to be unreasonably invested in seeing them fail.

I keep worrying that they are going to be good, but then I realize that they were supposed to be good last year.

They basically replaced Rose with Wade, Noah with Rondo, and Pau with Lopez. They certainly have the name recognition, but I don't see why they should suddenly be awesome.

Lopez is a major downgrade from Pau, Rondo actively makes teams worse, and Wade is in decline and duplicates the skillset of their best player.

The Bulls are awful.

I think they will be okay.

Oh, do you?

I love this bit from Chris Forsberg at ESPN:

Quote
As the Miami Heat watch 34-year-old Dwyane Wade walk away for nothing, it's a good time to remember that the Boston Celtics turned 35-year-old Paul Pierce and 37-year-old Kevin Garnett into a package that included three first-round picks and a trade exception that ultimately helped deliver All-Star Isaiah Thomas to Boston.

Truth is Wade is on the decline and probably has little trade value.  Brooklyn was poorly managed and made a TON of mistakes - how about D-Ron and JJ2?

Looks like MIA wanted Wade to leave but without explicitly showing him the door.  I don't blame the Heat for not showing him the money now.  I mean if you are going to give credit to Wade for taking less for the good of the team, you can't at the same time support him now for asking for payback.  He'd be overpaid at $25m/yr based on his recent performance, no question about it.

Boston definitely had the right goods at the right time with Pierce and KG, and also the right setup in Brooklyn to deal with. Perfect storm for us.

As for Wade, I think it was smart to not give him a ridiculously big contract at the end of his career, a mistake the Lakers made with Kobe.

And I'm not worried about the Bulls. Even if Wade avoids injury, he'll have to sit every third game in order to last the whole season; Rondo will do some good things but also bring ball movement to a grinding halt; and the team will probably struggle to hit .500.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

so given that butler and rondo recruited Rose, I assume this means we can stop with the Butler thing.

That backcourt of Wade and Rondo might be the worst 3 pt shooting guard tandem in the league.

That makes a little more sense.  I think they might miss the playoffs though. Which is kinda bad, especially in the East.

I don't think Lopez is a downgrade from Pau. As an offensive focal point sure, but the Bulls need defensive mobility and a roll man and RoLo does those things better than old Pau.

And while the Bulls have certainly created an awkward fit with their projected starting perimeter trio, they are also pretty loaded with shooting - Valentine, Dougie and Niko can really shoot.

Rondo will be key. He was a disaster in Dallas, but he wasn't so bad for Sacramento - didn't play D, but got them playing at an insane pace, hit 3s and showed that he's still got life in his legs (which was no sure thing given how slow he looked for us post-ACL).

If they can stagger their line-ups right, with Wade as a functional 6th man, and Valentine/McDermott getting minutes in between Rondo and Butler, I think this team could be a lot more functional offensively than people are projecting.

Defensively they are in trouble if Rondo continues his old Kobe routine on that end and Wade continues to focus his limited bandwidth on scoring.

But I think they could be fun to watch. I'm looking forward to Rondo and Valentine together - rare to get 2 passers like that in the same backcourt.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Who knows... If bad Rondo and injured Wade show up, it will be a mess; I also do not think much of Hoiberg. Given how competitive the East is they could end up being a lottery team.

On the other hand, if they find team chemistry and make it to the playoffs, it would be a fun team to watch with Rondo and Wade having so much playoff experience.

In a continuation of the clump of teams in the middle of the East the last couple of years, there are now a number of teams that could break out to, if not the Cavs level, at least the Raptors level by the playoffs--or they could fail to catch fire. The Bulls are just one of them. The Pacers, the Wiz, the C's, the Pistons, the Bucks, the Heat, heck the Knicks even, are others.

I know EXACtLY why Wade and Rondo are on the same team ......somebody has a jones for the coach.

To Get Fred Hoiberg ....FIRED

He will go mental and have to leave for his own sanity if he isn't fired.

This is obviously directed at the coach .

Rondo is practically uncoachable , unless he has somebody like Doc who lets his Pg run the show ...because he can't.

Wade ......is known to be a thug and not pay attention to,coaches and will not take any orders , unless it is from a tuff guy like Riley .

So I guess we know where Westbrooke is headed now .
