I see a lot of confusion about Beal's cap hold in this thread.  It's approximately $14.2 million.  I don't have the time to go through their salaries to determine whether or not they can afford Horford.  But if someone feels inclined to do so, Beal counts as $14.2 million.

Not until it is officially signed.  Until then,  he counts as the original cap hold.

So they can sign a fa first, then use bird rights to go over cap.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.  His original cap hold is $14.2 million, 250% of last year's salary.

Without looking too much into it, it seems to me that they have more than enough to afford Horford easily (unless there's something I'm missing).

Wall is a better version of AB - maybe a bit worse of a defender but a much more consistent threat on offense.
Other than those two:
IT > Beal
Crowder >>> Porter
Amir > Morris
KO < Gortat
Stevens >>> Brooks
BOS Bench >>> WAS Bench

The origin of that has since been deleted, but who knows where that info came from (unless he was also fooled by a fake tweet himself).

I know we love our guys, but reducing Wall to a rich man's Avery Bradley is just... Wall basically averaged 20/10 last season - 18/9 for his career. That's in spite of the coaching and starting his career in the same locker room as Gilbert Arenas. Imagine a talent like Wall with Stevens.

But at least we can all accept the Gortat is better than KO.

I wonder if Horford is trying to play the Cs against the Wizards, to see if one of them will agree to a sign & trade, in order for Horford to get the additional year.  I don't know if this has been raised before.

I don't think Ainge would have any problem dumping the war chest if Durant came.

As has been mentioned ad nauseum, you can't sign and trade for the fifth year anymore

They changed that rule.  Sign and trades limited to four years.

Even if you could argue that Washington's roster is currently better than Boston's, we have better assets to trade for an additional star, a GM that has built a championship contender before, stable ownership, a great young coach, and trust between all of them. You don't get that in many franchises.

I am always shocked how few players in the league truly value those things in FA.

I love reading the Wiz fans thoughts on their chances compared to ours ;D
Here are two examples:

Please I want this so bad. Mainly because Boston fans are insufferable and I want to see salt.

Well he pared it down to Wizards and Celtics... looking at the Celtics roster I don't get the big lovefest going on over it. They have good depth and youth, but Horford is 30 and seems a great fit next to Gortat and teamed with the Beal-Wall backcourt seems ideal as far as a ready made win now situation. Add in Morris and Porter, and the upside of Oubre, possibly Satoransky. Brooks has been a well regarded player friendly and successful head coach, upgraded from Wittman.

Generally, everyone thinks that Gortat will make the difference in Horford's decision as the latter wants to play PF instead of C ::)
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Who the hell is Satoransky? Lol
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about
