JT didn't fight for JB to stay on the team. And that he didn't know JB was being shopped/for what return was the "cap". That's all. Can we all just admit Tatum doesn't care about JB now? And that's Tatum's right he doesn't have to like JB.
But as JB said the PR puff stuff trying to paint the story different is BS. Both just need to let it be and move on. These guys were never close friends. We can all understand having co-workers we don't have any personal relationship with just all business.
Except that?s not what he said. JT was shocked to find out that the team JB was traded to was Philly. As was everyone else.
And that's why we got the Cap and PR comment.
I am not sure I understand what you are basing your comments on. You think that Tatum should have lobbied Brad Stevens to not trade Brown in general or just for the PHI deal? This assumes that Tatum was privy to the details of the deals that Stevens was considering. You think that Tatum knew in advance of the trade being announced what the particulars of the PHI deal were? And that he had some opportunity to influence whether BOS made the deal or not?
I don't think Tatum wanted Brown to go anymore than he wanted Holiday or Porzingis or Horford or Smart to go. But what do you expect Tatum or any player to do? And do you really think that team management should consider the opinions of players when building a roster? Do you think Stevens should have discussed it with Tatum before trying to trade Brown for Giannis? And should Tatum have fought that trade too?
I told you what I'm basing my comments on JB and other players as well as people who cover the team. I didn't say Tatum wanted him gone. Again for the x time no one has said that. All people have said was Tatum knew and Tatum never stepped in voice a stop of it. And all the other players are not JB. JB is a different situation than those players. JB was Nightwing.
OK, you have clarified, your "beef" with Tatum is that you believe he knew BOS was trying to trade Brown (everyone knew), and even was "consulted" on whether to trade him, and that he should have somehow stopped the trade?
Sorry, I don't buy any of this. Of course Tatum knew, at least after all the talk around the failed Giannis trade. I do not believe he was "consulted". Maybe "informed", but he already knew, like everyone else. All this is speculation whether former players say this or writers or anyone. Tatum has said that he wants no part of personnel decisions.
But I differ in that I have no expectation that Tatum should have somehow stepped in to stop the team from trading Brown to PHI or MIL or anyone else, whether informed or consulted or kept in the dark. Would it have been OK with you if he didn't step in to voice opposition to the Giannis trade, which we all agree he knew about if he ever looked at his phone? How about a trade for Cooper Flagg? If consulted by the team, what should Tatum have said about that trade?
I am not trying to single you out, I am just trying to understand.
