The chances of the guy you draft at 16 in such a shallow draft becoming as good as even Thad Young are so laughably minuscule. People place way too much emphasis on draft picks at times.

Except this is known as a quite deep draft with likely multiple successful NBA players drafted into the 2nd round.

It's been reported Charlotte are trying to move 22 and a combo of either Lamb or Hawes.

Young is locked up for 3 more years at $12.5 million/year.  If all it costs us is #16, sign me up.  I might even throw in #23, too, if we could get McCullough

Could they agree to the trade, say 23 for Young (seeing as that would be better than 22 and a bad contract), have the Celtics pick the guy they want at 23 and then wait until July 1st, when the salary cap goes up, and make the trade then without having to add salary?

Don't like the idea of them getting Lamb on a good contract +#22 at all.  Take that offer back Charlotte!

Thad Young has value.  Not so much necessarily directly to the Celtics immediately but potentially in another trade that may happen in the future.  Not sure that BKN would want to deal with us but assuming they would, and also assuming that Hawes + #22 or something like that is what we have to shoot for, I would do Amir + #16.

Again, not so much because I think Young is a great fit or a big difference maker for us in the short term but more because I think he has more value overall than Amir plus whoever we get at #16.  Young does bring scoring which is something we do need so he certainly is not a bad fit.  In the short term, he can help but beyond that, I feel he is a very trade-able piece for this big trade for a top player we are all hoping will be in our future.

Yes salary matching isn't a concern at all because the deals can be consummated after the cap goes up and most everyone has tons of space.

Has anyone thought about how the Nets replacing Thad Young with middle lottery rookies would make their team SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE??

I wonder what team would benefit from the Nets getting worse?
