Make it #23 and #45 and I bet you could take up a collection on CB.

1. You don't (need $ going back), and
2. Amir Johnson is not a "throw-in".

As many have said. Salary filler is not needed. You can agree to the trade in principal, draft for the Nets, and then complete the trade after July 1 which would then allow us to absorb Young's contract into our salary cap space.

My bad wasn't my intention to call Johnson as just a "throw-in"

I meant included in the whole deal. But we don't need to so its a bonus

I would offer them 31 and 45

Don't think it gets done for that, they want to get into the 1st.
I'm pretty sure there was info out there that #22 + contract has already been offered, so that's your baseline.
I'd pass then.

Yea I'm not giving them #16 ...

Holy Cow... People are talking about taking Jaylen Brown with the 3rd pick and not be willing to trade #16 in the same draft for Thad Young?

I meant he can fit on any team. High energy. Seems well liked. Plays hard.

Technically, if their best offer is #22 tacked on to a contract, you can try offering them #23 with no contract. So you don't have to offer them #16. But I think Young will be a good return for the pick.

Young is a nice role player and a decent pro but nothing more. He gets statistics because he plays a lot of minutes for bad teams. Is Thad Young going to bring the Cs more wins that resigning Sullinger or getting a guy like Terrence Jones in free agency? Is he going to give us a new dimension that isn't already on the team with Amir Johnson?

People are right in saying that the #16 pick may never wind up as good as Young. But the whole point is that guys like Thad Young are common in the NBA. They cost you $12m a year. They don't win championships for you if they're in your starting 5. Whereas a draft pick is younger, cheaper and it's someone who on average may not be as good but occasionally is far better than a guy like Young and that's what this team needs. I'd much rather "swing for the fences" with draft-and-stash or high upside candidates like Maker, Skal or whomever else at 16 and 23 than spend it on a Brandon Bass type player when I already have the cap space to go get that type of guy in FA anyway.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

How do we take on 12mil in salary for next year and not have to send something back?  I'm not a salcap expert by no means, but i thought we would have to.

Wait until July 1 and absorb the contract into cap space.
