Sources: Several Western teams aggressive on Thad Young, whom Brooklyn's working to move to highest bidder. This gets Nets into first-round.

That would help us next year at least.

Don't think it gets done for that, they want to get into the 1st.

16th would be fair. 23rd would be a steal
Thad is a better rotation player for the next 3 years of his contract than any rotational player we would be able to get at those picks.

I'm pretty sure there was info out there that #22 + contract has already been offered, so that's your baseline.

I'd point out that the choice of contracts offered are for unwanted players with multiple years left.  It's not a great offer.  31+45, with no salary going back, is very arguably better.

That said, Thad Young is not a player who will take the Celtics to the next level, nor do I think he's a player the Celtics can trade for someone who will get them to the next level, so I'm not interested.

People fall in love with draft prospects too much. If you look at the prospects picked between 15 and 20 in the last 5 years, how many are even playing 5 minutes a game? 16th for Thad would be fine.

Thad is quite underrated. Anyone that has a positive Defensive +/- on the Brooklyn Nets is an above average player.

The chances of the guy you draft at 16 in such a shallow draft becoming as good as even Thad Young are so laughably minuscule. People place way too much emphasis on draft picks at times.

"No way, I'm not passing on the chance to draft who would likely amount to a Solomon Hill or a Jeff Green in exchange for Thad Young."

i really dont know much about thad young, so i have a question. is he comparable/better than sully?

if so, he might serve as a nice replacement at the forward spot.
