Not really a compelling point at all.

Love is wasted as a third or fourth option on the floor.

The Cavs roster exacerbates his weaknesses and mutes his strengths.

I wouldn't expect Love to turn a mediocre team into a contender, but add him to a team with the right supporting cast and a lead star already in place, plus a coach that knows how to set up his players to succeed, and I think Love could play a big role on a very good team.

So you like him at the right price under the right conditions?   

Yes, I think he could be a quality second guy in the right circumstances.

But is anyone else balking at the idea of Crowder for Love? I don't know. Two-way players aren't super-common in the NBA. Crowder is a warrior. That mindset is rare in the NBA.

Even straight up, I don't know if I like it. I could probably talk myself into it, but I still pause.

If Cleveland was honest with themselves, they'd understand that Kyrie Irving is the bad fit.  Finding a third wheel that works is a lot easier when your two wheels are Lebron/Love instead of Lebron/Irving.

Thought the same thing last night. Irving just loses interest when he doesn't have the ball in his hands and his defensive commitment is non-existent

I wouldn't give Jae up in a straight up deal. Taking contracts into account, Jae is more valuable.

I'd rather pay him big money than say Sully, but it comes down to what type of assets we will have to give up.

Just to add to my original post.  I don't think the Cavs do a great job hiding Love's defensive weaknesses the way Amir does for Sully, right?

I would strongly consider trading the 3rd pick for him, go after Howard or Horford that can further hide him on D, and just maybe Durant would like the makeup of our team to join us.

I think it would have to be a 3 team deal like so many have mentioned with Melo ending up in Cleveland.

They desperately need more 3&D guys especially if they want to beat the Warriors. We have two of the best in the whole league: Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley. If the Celtics and the Cavs discuss Love again, I'm pretty sure the Cavs ask for both Crowder and Bradley. Last year, if you had told me that Bradley and Crowder together were a good offer for Love, I would have laughed in your face. Now, I believe if anyone might be getting shorthanded, it's the Celtics. Love's value has gone down that low that I would weigh my options if that deal was on the table. However, I fully agree that as soft as he is, he'd be a great fit with Brad.

He'd fit, but honestly he helps us more by staying in Cleveland and gumming up their system. 

We can get better other ways, while Cleveland (our biggest rival at the moment) is somewhat limited, no need to help them.

Edit add:OK maybe throw in JJ too. Cavs could also use JJ in that package for that style of play. And that isn't a big blow to add him to the deal.

I 100% agree not getting past Cavs just by getting Love. That is how it is now anyways. Getting Love and keeping all the first opens up other deals though. Maybe Butler is traded for and you add KD. Now it's IT, Butler, KD, Love leading the way past Cavs.

You have to love Love if you can pair him with Howard since Love's weakness on D will be completely covered. We would be absolutely dominant in the paint in terms of offense, rebounding and, to a lesser extent, defense. With everyone else going small in a futile attempt to be like Golden State (there's only one Golden State), we could stir things up by being the dominant BIG team. If you consistently dominate in rebounds, you consistently win in the league whether it's 1966 or 2016.

In any case, I would definitely send the third overall pick to the Knicks in exchange for Melo to Cleveland and Love to Minnesota. I would even throw in any (or all) of the players we drafted last year if the Knicks insisted. Heck, I would let the Knicks and/or Cavs have any of our players other than IT, Smart, Bradley, and Crowder since it could be an opportunity to clear up cap space.

We aren't getting by a James (in his prime) led Cleveland without adding a Durant level player anyway, so why not prepare for a post-James in his prime Cleveland.
