If you can get Love without losing any Nets picks and only one of the Smart/Bradley/Crowder trio, you almost have to do it. Love is still a very good player, one who's been underutilized in Cleveland and would fit much better here, both basketball wise and personality wise.

If you can make that trade and turn #3 into something like and Nurkic, were on to something.

If we put Love on this current Celtics team in Sully's place with no other changes I really think we're looking at a 55 win team and a trip to the ECF. He'd give us around 20/10/4 and would really help with out poor shooting. Buy low on him if you can, he's got another 3-5 years of high level play on the right team.

Crowder, 16 & 23.   That's the most i give up for Love.

Those mid firsts are valuable this year, given the parody of the class, and Cleveland will be able to find a contributor in there.   And Crowder is the perfect 3D compliment to Lbj.

Bradley & Smart I'd rather keep, and no way do I consider the #3 in play for Love after the season he's had.

I would consider swapping Crowder with Smart or Bradly, just because of position.  (i think we will be drafting a guard)

What about a 3 way trade between Dallas - Cleveland - Boston

Dallas needs to initiate a rebuild given Dirk is at tail end of career and has very little young talent to fuel this movement. They also have no 1st round draft pick this year.

Cleveland needs talent to pair with Lebron. The KLove experiment is not working and once they win tonight without him, the writing is on the wall.

Boston needs a go-to-scorer and veteran allstar to pair with IT and to lure a 3rd all star.

Boston receives KLove + 2017 or (not and) 2018 Dallas 1st round pick

Dallas receives Boston 2016 #16 Pick + Avery Bradley

Cleveland receives Amir Johnson (cap space) + Chandler Parsons

Does anyone remember the 3 way deal they were kicking around the All-Star break?  Bos, Cleveland and Knicks?  I can see that getting revisited but no way the C's part ways with the 3rd pick.  Maybe 16 and 23.

If all it took for Love were the #3 and matching contracts (Amir, Young, Hunter), I think I'd do that.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Love spreads the floor, rebounds, and passes very well. These are all characteristics we should be looking for in a big man. I don't love Love, but he would be a great combination of KO and Sully and would immediately fill our need for a 2nd all-star. He should also have a long, productive career ahead of him and has already signed for the un-super max from last year.

AB and KO with filler picks should really pique Cleveland's interest - no reason to give up the #16 with KO included. Those two would fit in fantastically with Cleveland's roster.

No Love for Love..

Folks are wanting his Minny Production where he was the absolute Focal Point of the offense (that won over 35 games maybe once with him on the roster)

IF you want him for a championship run It would mean again making him a 3rd option (behind KD & Say a Butler)  This in my opinion would net us Similar results as to what we are seeing with him now in Cleveland...  These results are not worth involving the #3 pick at all.. (nor do I think a player like KD is looking at Love and thinking heck yea - get me a plane ticket)

He is definitely not the kind of Hard nosed, chip on the shoulder, driven player that we are accustomed to cheering for.. IF we give away Crowder or AB or both to acquire him for him we would really be crippling our team.

And Its funny to me hearing that CBS can mask his horrible defense because We are doing it with IT (a guy who does try to compete) .. It's easier to mask a guards Defense because we can pack in and we have another line of defense behind him.. In this case Love would be that other line of Defense..  How do we mask that.. Kelly and Sully are Ben Wallace and Mutumbo compared to Love..

I also remember another certain guy that we got from certain championship team that we could not mask no matter how many points he scored... CBS is a heck of a coach, he is not GOD.

To me this guy is not a Star you should build your team around... He is not worth changing the personality of This team for.. He is not worth giving up much to Acquire him..

If Love weren't the focal point in Boston, didn't change the team's personality or culture, and didn't require emptying the cupboard of major assets, would you be on board with acquiring him?

I ask because it's possible that all three conditions would be in play.

This is a key point. He won't make what the new max level free agents will be making, which is great, especially combined with IT's contract.

Sure, Love is not the guy you want to be THE main guy on your contending team. If we can get him without giving up many of our top assets though, he is worth it. He has been a bust in Cleveland, but thats because they took one of the best offensive rebounders in the league, and one of the few highly effective low post scorers, and turned him into a corner 3 pt shooter. That totally nullifies his best qualities. I am certain if we have him here, CBS would use him properly.

If he is not any of these things then he cant help us win a Chip now or in the Future.. So No. I would rather acquire a player that can help us or give the minutes to someone who can.. Mickey Jordan or someone with Experience who is much cheaper (Bismo)

Was Ray Allen the focal point in Boston?

Did Ray Allen require giving up the cupboard of major assets to acquire?

Did Ray Allen change the team culture?

Did Ray Allen help us win a championship?

Haha - this is funny.  Ray Allen was already a hall of famer added to a the team with  1 HOF's on it and another on the way..  It was okay to give up only the #5 pick for him.
Allen Embodied the Team culture, Allen was cold blooded,  Allen was an ELITE shooter,  one of the most clutch of all time.. There was no History of Allen playing where he didn't fit.  We knew exactly what we were getting when we acquired him.

Are you telling me that this is Love?
Right now Love is a player on a championship team that people are making excuses for..
