16, Bradley & Sulley (who they have to resign)

I might also throw in Young and/or Hunter for Sh1ts and giggles

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I could convince myself that AB and some 2nds was a good deal. People casually adding Crowder to the deal need to realize that, based on contract, Crowder may alone be more valuable than Love never mind combing him with AB, KO, MEM pick, etc.

I also agree with latterdaycsfan that I would prefer Ibaka (all things being equal). I know he was never quite as dominant offensively, but he has always basically been on very good teams with other guys who carry the load. His defense and versatility demolish Love's.

Now is the most realistic time to try and acquire Love, since his price is presumably less than it ever was.

It seemed like when the rumors first popped up some fans didn't want him because they didn't believe he's a guy you could build around. Now with the cost to get him lowered he no longer needs to be a foundation piece for it to be a good deal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I used to LOVE Love...but not so much anymore.

I fear that he's broken...mentally along with his game.

Love would still be an enormous upgrade over Sullinger.

I don't think the Cavs have been a good fit for him from the beginning.

That said, I would not by any means give up a treasure trove to get him.

Yeah, this is in line with what I would do.

It isn't all about the individual player. There's a team fit issue too - that isn't measured by "advanced stats," that term that always makes me laugh.

Of course I'd take Kevin Love. Seven days a week and twice on Sunday.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Oh yeah, I want him more now than before I think.

His time in Cleveland has been just terrible for him in so many ways. I don't think he fits in with the LeBron gang, and he's so misused when he's on the court he seems worse than he actually is.

Our team is desperate for another source of consistent offense, and Love fits in perfectly with what we need. I'd say it's a near guarantee that he gives us around 20/10 with great passing, and I think he buys in a little more on defense with this team around him. I'd look toward a guy like Noel or a stronger rim protecting/running big to put next to him and Then I think we'd be looking at an ECF next year. Plus, Love is close with IT, our most important player, so he should fit in pretty well.

I don't think I'd trade a Brooklyn pick, but if it just cost Bradley, #16 and RJ, you have to take that deal and run. Love is a much better player than he's seemed in Cleveland, and we need a guy who can hit shots, score points and rebound. Love does all 3.

Compelling point by Chris Mannix:

"If he can’t succeed as a third option, why would anyone think he could elevate a team into title contention as a second, or a first?"

Not for what he costs.  It's always been about the cost of him with me.  I was fighting that fight two years ago.  Nothing has swayed me on that.

I do feel bad for him, though.  He seems to be stuck between a rock & a hard place in CLE right now.  Just an awful situation for him.

Not really a compelling point at all.

Love is wasted as a third or fourth option on the floor.

The Cavs roster exacerbates his weaknesses and mutes his strengths.

I wouldn't expect Love to turn a mediocre team into a contender, but add him to a team with the right supporting cast and a lead star already in place, plus a coach that knows how to set up his players to succeed, and I think Love could play a big role on a very good team.

You shouldn't, he choose to re-sign there.

I would not trade Avery straight up for Love. Bradley has more value to our team than Love. And a much better contract.  I don't know why everyone is so quick to give him up.

AB is my favourite player in this team, but I have to say if there's a deal with Love, AB is probably the guy Cleveland wants, he'd fit perfectly with that team. I'd rather give up Crowder, but if it comes to AB or Love, Danny probably will pull the trigger.

Having said that, I'd offer a lesser package to OKC for Serge Ibaka first.

So you like him at the right price under the right conditions?   ;D
