Another assumption that is happening in this thread is everyone assumes the Boston offer would include the 2016 Nets pick. What if the proposal for Melo didn't include the 2016 Nets pick but the 2018 Nets pick and the 2 2016 non Nets picks? Would everyone be okay with that trade? Melo is a gigantic improvement offensively over any player on this team, never mind players playing in a position Melo would play at(SF or PF)!
If you could add Melo to this roster without giving up core players(Smart, Bradley, Crowder, Thomas) and have Melo as your number one scoring option late in games with Bradley, Thomas and Crowder as pass to options, I think you do the trade. I think that team with either a Sully/Olynyk front court player as well as a top 4 2016 draft pick as well as a possible free agent(Horford), could be looking at taking Cleveland deep into the ECFs and would need to be pursued.
