Last time he was a #1 option his team won 40 games.
The same was true of Isaiah Thomas heading into this season.
Not an accurate comparison, and here is why:
1) Thomas' first three seasons were in Sacramento, where he was
never a #1 option (Cousins was) and wasn't even a consistent starter until his second year.
2) Thomas' forth year he was traded to the Celtics, where he became Boston's #1 scoring option - after which Boston rapidly transformed from one of the worst teams in the entire NBA, to an 8th seed in the Playoffs.
3) Thomas' fifth year in he is still the #1 scoring option, and his team is currently sitting at the #3 seed in the Eastern conference
Kevin Love has played 6 seasons - he was the #1 scorer on his team over all 6 of those seasons, and none of those teams ever won more than 40 games and never made the playoffs.
So Thomas has actually proven to be a far more successful "winner" when he's been the #1 option of a team than Love ever has.
