hate to see such an injury happen. jack has made over $40 million in his career and has a contract worth $6.3 million for next year. if he recovers he should be able to get one more contract, even if it is reduced a bit.

i wish good luck to him. i wish bad luck to the nets.   ;D
Only 500k of the 6.3mil is guaranteed next year.  Wouldn't be surprised to see him used in a salary dump trade.

His contract is only guaranteed next year for $500k.  No way he isn't released at this point, unfortunately for him.
thanks for the update on that. tp for being ever vigilant.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

If memory recalls, most of this forum was convinced Brooklyn would drop from being a 38 win playoff team to the worst team in the league simply because they were giving Deron Williams' minutes to Jarret Jack.   I was told Jarret Jack was so incomprehensibly bad that Brooklyn would be hopeless.

So who knows... maybe swapping out Jarret Jack for Shane Larkin will not really matter.

I still think Brooklyn is a threat to dig out of the bottom 5 as long as Brook Lopez is there.

You're most welcome, and thanks for the spate of TPs of late.

Of course they are a threat to dig out of the bottom 5.  Is that the kind of outrageous comment that has so many people annoyed with you?  Sounds pretty reasonable.

Noone is "outraged" just suggesting that the Nets will have to win more games while every other team will have stink.

I think it was more Brooklyn moving from a PG combo of

(1) Deron Williams (solid starter) + Jarrett Jack (high grade backup PG) = good PG combo, near average to average PG combo

to

(2) Jarrett Jack (adequate starter) + Shane Larkin (very poor backup PG) = one of weakest PG combos in the league

Now, things are even worse with Shane Larkin (average 3rd string PG) moving into an even larger role and getting even more minutes as the new starting PG.

Brooklyn have been very unlucky to lose RHJ and Jarrett Jack. Their two best role players outside core of B.Lopez, T.Young and JJ.

Big blow for a team that was already suffering for depth and quality perimeter players.

That was just one of the major reasons, not the only reason.  Statistical data argued that Deron was much more effective than Jack despite the decline in his game, and losing Deron really diminished the quality at the PG position, as Who pointed out.

I think the biggest reason why most people were convinced Brooklyn would be horrible is their lack of depth.  Looking at their roster at the start of the season, it was quite clear that the were ill-equipped to deal with any major injury.

And swapping Jack for Larkin will probably matter a lot.  Jack was playing well for much of the season.  He's a much better scorer and passer than Larkin, and offers more size at the PG spot.  Larkin and Sloan = worst PG combo in the entire league.

Right, but the funny part was that while Deron was in Brooklyn all I heard about was how awful he was.  Then he leaves and everyone tells me how awful Jarret Jack is.  Now Jack is gone and I'm supposed to expect this makes a top 5 pick even more likely.

As long as Lopez is healthy, they have a shot to spoil our party.

Nobody thought they were going to be the worst team in the NBA.

true but seeing as how this is a PG league
where most teams would have a good PG as a starter
it clearly is in their disadvantage unless larkin or sloan emerge as some underplayed starting calibre player (which is unlikely)

lopez is good
but he himself + young + declining JJ + bogdanovic are not good enough on their own to turn around their season
