Smart, Dallas 1st, and Philly's 2nd back to them for Noel.  Money wise, it's a push and they appear to be in need of a PG.

if true, i think that the celtics would have the leverage in the deal.. unlikely to give up Smart since Nerlens is essentially not-wanted by Philly. Nerlens has also regressed as an offensive player, so where would he even be in the C's big-man rotation. I'd give up any expiring contract, Jared or Kelly, and that Dallas pick.

That is "sourced" by BleacherReport by via Philly beat writer who points to a random Twitter user who says the Celtics "like" Noel. I'd go out on a limb here and call bull.

If there are any conversations, they probably start with Smart and one of the Nets picks. Which I doubt.

No way I'd give up Smart unless they sweetened it.  Give up something else.

Not giving up Marcus Smart for Nerlens Noel.

I like Nerlens, but Smart can be a wing stopper in the future, and I think that's more of a rare commodity than a rim protector.

Yeah. I wouldn't give Smart. As much as I would like to have Noel in a Celtic uni, he's not worth Smart a first and a second. Maybe Rozier or Sully plus a first and a second. On a side note, philly would benefit from having some veteran leadership. We have some we could trade them

You're hoping that Marcus Smart will grow three inches?

And yet, they wouldn't end with inclusion of a BKN pick. Noel has sucked just as much as Smart this year..

Aside, can we please change the thread title? This is random speculation for now...

I don't think they'll give us Covington. But swap him with Canaan, and I'm sure they'll talk.

I know many like Noel a lot, but his offensive limitations are just too much for me to feel comfortable with the Celts giving up what they'd have to give up to convince the Sixers to trade him.

You mean, like, the most offensively challenged player on our roster?! If you're worried about Noel, you just must absolutely hate having Smart.

What -- you don't agree with the 2 dozen folks who voted: Celtics say 'no'?

What do you see more often, great big men who can't shoot outside of 5 feet, or great guards who shoot below .400 from the field?
