My views on player conduct is no matter how a player feels you should respect your coach. If you are having issues be calm and respectful about it. If very mad go vent in the bathroom or locker room don't show a guy up who is suppose to be the boss. I like Cousins but he needs to be more in control. In this situation notify the GM that you are having troubles with the coach. At least that way a meeting can be made and problems can be handled without effecting the team. If management doesn't help then request a trade privately. But don't argue with him in front of anyone sends a bad message.
I tend to agree, and I don't think there is any question that Cousins could probably have handled the situation in a more civilized way.
But that said, people are not perfect and we all lose our cool sometimes. What's important is how you handle yourself after the event. We don't know the situation closely enough to know how it went down exactly. He may well have apologized afterwards, we don't know.
Kings management do know what went down however, and they seem to be much concerned about Karl than they are about Cousins. If they felt that Cousins' reaction was uncalled for then I am sure they would have reprimanded him accordingly. It doesn't seem like they have done that, which leads me to believe that whatever Karl did to upset Cousins was significant enough to make such a reaction justifiable (or at least understandable).
I'm sure Divac probably spoke to Cousins, and I'm sure they probably said something along the lines of "I understand why you're upset and you're right, but you could have made your point in a better way". I'm sure Cousin's response was along the lines of "I know and I'm sorry, I was just very frustrated and I lost my cool". Divac probably gave him a stern talking to, but then let him off with the understanding that he had a legit reason for getting so angry.
Of course this is all speculation, but this is the idea I get from all I'm reading about the situation. For a player to lose it at a coach like that in front of all his teammates is quite a drastic reaction, and you would think it would take a lot...even for somebody as emotional as Cousins. For management to then allow a reaction like that to go unpunished is really quite unusual. For management to then respond by going to the players and asking them "how would you like me to deal with (coach)?" would be completely unheard of.
When you look at all the events that have reportedly taken place here, it immediately gives off the impression that Karl must have done something pretty wrong. No other explanation fits here, especially given Karl's history.
