Trade top 3 pick for Cousins?  or draft a prospect?

Yes.  He's a franchise big man. Absolutely.

No, would rather draft Ben Simmons or a top 3 pick and then go after Cousins in free agency. If we miss out then meh whatever we have Simmons/draft stud.
41 (45.6%)
Don't want anything to do with Cousins.

Yes, and yes, without a doubt in my mind. I always said DMC and Davis are going to be two transcendental players, simply because their two way big men with potential for mid range to 3 point range.

Davis has reportedly been working on improving his 3, and DMC put his 3 point shot on display.

Can you imagine a big men that can score on offense like this?

Ben Simmons looks very nice, and so does Ingram, Brown, etc. But Cousins is already dropping those numbers on teams, and has fared well against other superstar big men.

Does he win? No. But I think its only a testament to how dysfunctional a team like the Kings are...

Can you imagine how dominant the Celtics would've been with a great post up player, that can shoot the mid range, and pass?

Cousins would be a marvelous talent that Stevens could certainly utilize, especially if his 3 point shot, and mid range improves further.

Yes, without a doubt you trade a top-3 pick for Cousins.

What I find interesting is combining your last two posts regarding the Nets pick. Let's imagine that we luck out and get the #1 overall pick, and Philly ends up getting pick number 3,4, or 5 either with their own pick or the LA pick.

If they would offer us Noel and pick number 3, 4, or 5 for the first pick in the draft (or even Noel and their pick for both the Nets and Dallas pick that we'll say is #9), would you rather have that package or trade the #1 pick with Sully and Amir for Cousins?

That's a tough choice for me. Though I'd love to have Cousins, having the potential to nab Noel and a Brown or Ingram type would possibly be worth passing on Cousins for. This potential lineup could be sick for a long time:
PG: Smart, IT
SG: Bradley, Rozier
SF: Brown/Ingram, Crowder
PF: KO/Sully
C: Noel, Zeller
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

But what if Cousins want to drag Willie Cauley-Stein with him?

After all, he did tell Kings FO to draft him in the first place  ???

Too early to say. Probably. But as others have said, let's see how the college season plays out first.

That is tough, but I would take Simmons if I had the opportunity.  The more I watch Jaylen Brown, the more I realize how much he relies solely on athleticism.  That only works for so long.  Simmons seems to be the real deal.

I probably would, but as others have said, if there's a very good prospect available in the top 3, I might prefer that.

Cousins is a borderline MVP candidate, but a top 3 pick could give us control over a superstar prospect for at least 7 or 8 years.  Cousins could leave here for greener (as in money) pastures after a couple seasons.

Can't say I would. DeMarcus Cousins has elite talent, no question. What has always worried me about Cousins though is his demeanor and the way he sometimes seems disengaged. Also, he has never been in the playoffs. I understand that the level of competition in the West is much higher but not once....

Why would Cousins be any different here? Stevens is a great players coach but why take the risk? If Ben Simmons is the player everyone is making him out to be I would fell much more comfortable using that possible #1 pick on him. He would fit right in. I believe were ranked the 4th youngest team in the league (might be wrong) he would be able to develop right along side our young talent.

Not only that, but he probably has the IQ to start from day 1.

Would I trade a top 3 pick for what looks like a top 10 NBA player, who's just entering his prime, only 25 years old and is locked up long term?

2 years is locked up long term ?

Any rookie we would draft would be locked up for 8 years or so, with the first 4 on a rookie contract .

I probably trade # 4 pick or lower for him though .

umm i'm not a huge cousins fan but are you people crazy? the answer is yes when it comes to acquiring top proven talent for a draft pick that is an unknown and will take time to develop...if he even ends up being good. let other teams draft and groom talent.

of course i'd much rather be able to draft a stud and sign Cousins or a top talent instead.

LOL, you are right. I was working on the idea that he signed the extension last year.

I'd still do it regardless. Top flight PROVEN talent, still young, and has a 2 (I fixed it now) year window to build a team around him. With the assets we have, I think we can build a team that can fit and contend with him as a centerpiece (pun intended). Unless Ben Simmons is a LeBron James type prospect, this is easy.

Here's what I'd do to get the best of both worlds (assuming the pick is #1):

I'd draft Simmons with the pick, and then trade a package of the 2017 Nets pick, the 2018 Nets pick, Zeller, Bradley, KO or Sully, and Lee for Cousins and WCS. This would give us a lineup of:

PG: Smart - Thomas - Rozier
SG: Hunter - Young - Rozier
SF: Simmons - Crowder - Young
PF: Amir - Sully/KO - JJ
C: Cousins - WCS - Mickey

With the rest of the minutes divided between Rozier, Mickey, Jerebko, and whoever else we have. This lineup was hard to make because I'm REALLY high on Rozier and Mickey but just can't find the minutes for them on this team (assuming we resign Amir). This team would be IMO be a top 3 team in the east and be set up perfectly to enter its prime when LBJ begins to slow down. If Boogie can continue to improve his outside shot and stretch the floor AND we could somehow manage to sign Noel in a few years, this team is an instant title contender. Lemme know what you guys think of this idea and if you think it'd work/how you'd change it.
