  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Today was a good day. Suns have a projected 23 wins but I don't see it.

They have the Kings twice, the Wolves and a pelicans game with no Anthony Davis. Two of those as wins and another random win in the other 8 games puts them at 3 wins from 11.
It's definitely possible.
Suns and Brooklyn are a complete coinflip for 3rd worst record but Suns have easier schedule.
Fingers crossed.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

RHJ is set to return next game. Not the greatest of news.

RHJ is a legend on this board and a no name anywhere else. He plays good defense for a rookie, and the depth helps them, but I think it is easy to forget this is a late first round draft pick coming off 40 games missed.
RHJ is the second coming of Kahwi Leonard

Yeah, they hit with him and Bogdonavic. We should swing a deal for both.

What are the chances that Cleveland rests somebody (LeBron?) tonight? All three played last night and Cleveland is on record as saying that rest is more important than the #1 seed.

They do have an off-night tomorrow before visiting LeBron's binkie, but I could still see them sitting players versus BKN as opposed to some of the more difficult games.

Even without LeBron the Cavs should still beat the Nets.

Also encouraging:

The Nets have a combined 3-18 record against the teams they'll face over their last 12 games.  Of the 9 different teams they'll play,  they've only recorded wins against 2 of them.

The Suns have a combined 6-14 record against the teams they'll face over their last 11 games.  Of the 10 different teams they'll play,  they've recorded wins against 5 of them.

Nets have 7 road games left to the Suns 6.

Also Nets have 3 back-to-backs left, Suns only have 1, and 2 of the 3 Nets back-to-backs form a dreaded 4-games-in-5-nights, all of which are on the road mwhahaha.

I'm optimistic here.

What purpose does it serve for Brooklyn to not shut down Lopez?

What purpose does it serve for Brooklyn to not shut down Lopez?

Veteran leadership on the court to help their young players continue to develop good NBA habits.  Lopez plays hard and plays well -- there is definite value in keeping the young kids from trying to make a name for themselves playing hero ball in games that don't matter.

Also, assuming Lopez doesn't get injured, showing that he got through the season fully healthy may aid in trading him over the summer, if that's the direction they decide to go.

Sounds all warm and fuzzy. If the Nets had their pick tho he's not playing much if any right now.

For us, its a win win no matter what they do.
1. If they keep playing those players into the ground, potential for injury that could affect next years pick and make it even better for us in 2017. Plus, if they play these players still, they are still a horrible team capable of 3rd of 4th position at worst.
2. If they rest the players, they will lose even more games and could go winless for the rest of the year. Maybe Kobe can take a 2 week supply of HGH and lead them to an improbably mini win streak :P

How excited is Danny Ainge and the rest of us loyal Celtics fans right now about these picks?

I don't disagree.  I think the benefit of sitting Lopez and Young if they had their pick would clearly outweigh the "teach the kids good habits" that I talked about.  I'm just saying that there is some benefit.
