This Nets losing streak and the firing of their coach/gm is almost enough to make me feel better when the C's are playing so poorly.

Listened to a podcast that Jonathan Givony was on for draft express and he said that Bender is ahead of where Porzingis was at, at the same age. So if we get in the top 3 I will be very happy.

I would say that's pretty accurate. In the 2014, before he pulled out, Porzingis was projected to go in the mid to late teens. I remember some mocks having us taking with the James Young pick.

Porzingis played 35 games for one of the top Spanish sides in 2014 and averaged 15 mpg. Bender has had 2 decent games so far, both against absolute bottom-feeders in Israel. Not sure I'm buying this yet.

The injuries helped us.  Had they stayed healthy, they probably would have won between 35-40.  Here's hoping they keep losing.  They could still make some moves to improve in the short-term.

This is pathetic. They lost Jack 4 games ago. They had been remarkably healthy before that including zero games missed from their best 2 players, yet where the third worst team in the league through 30+ games. Grow up. Kind of just losing any respect from anyone with this kind of post.

Exactly. He also posted several times before the year that as long as they don't lose Lopez, Young, or Johnson, for an extended period time, they'll be fine.

For a guy that's as wrong as often as LB is he really has a hard time admitting it. You would figure he'd be used to it by now.

I know he tries to be intentionally pessimistic and provocative, but trying to weasel out of a season long stance (plus the offseason) on this (that he has repeated with posts hundreds of times) is just kind of sad to see and disappointing, even given his known personality. The board is better when posters can acknowledge when they were off on something and not beat it to death when they were they right. Unfortunately Larbrd is on the wrong side of both of these equations (bumping threads where he said something that came true) and making up stuff to explain or excuse any false prediction. He is the only poster I have ever considered blocking just to not see the threads filled with nonsense. Being wrong really isn't that big of a deal. For example

- Smart is worse than I thought this year on offense
- David Lee is doing way worse than I thought he would
- Crowder is playing way better than I thought he could
- Sullinger is having a much worse year, and overall career than I thought he would
-Pierce is making much less of in impact than I thought he would
- The knicks will win many more games than I thought
...  i could go on all day

Everyone is wrong about 100's of things they would predict at the beginning of each season, even a super smart statistically minded person. Being able to say, hey I got that wrong makes the board so much more pleasant than people just digging in their heels and making up stuff.

I'm just wary about unproven Euro players that get a lot of traction in mock drafts just because they're tall, moderately skilled, and European. Also, I don't like big men who can't rebound.

to be fair, Yi's first season with the Bucks was ok, and his initial stint with the Nets was also not bad. Given both teams were bad at the time. I remember wanting Yi on the Celtics under KG's tutelage...boy am I wrong, now I have a weird obsession against drafting Chinese players lol

With the way international scouting has progressed there is little difference between international and domestic players in terms of bust potential. A guy could flame out either way, but unlike in the past it won't be for lack of scouting.

SA up by 40. This is sad. They look so bad that this should count as two losses.

Truthfully, though, I'd really rather they lost by eight or ten. I don't want the team to be so humiliated that they fight that much harder against a Knicks team that is on the 2nd night of a BTB on Wednesday.

You Boston fans are funny with the Nets season. You always come up with a doomsday scenario. You don't want them blown out because you think that will make them play harder the next game? Hmmmmm

Did you ever consider that they are getting blown out because they have quit for the season?

To be fair, I did grow up a diehard Red Sox fan, so I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop, knowing it's going to hit me on the head. But you get a TP for making me laugh.

I think weasel out is a bit strong. As the season has gone on he has consistently softened his stance in the threads I've read. I think on some occasions certain posters provoke him and he gives a reactionary response to spite them. So there's wrong on both sides.

One will never know if Brooklyn would have won 35-40 games... the injuries sunk their chances.  They made the playoffs 3 years in a row.  They are notoriously a slow starting team.   It was only a couple years ago that they started the season 13 games under .500 and then ended up with a winning record.   Had they stayed healthy, they probably would have gotten it together.  There's still time for them to make a couple moves and trend upwards.   Let's just thank our lucky stars that right now they are injured and losing... hopefully it continues.

 LB33 has argued all year the Nets would be a playoff team. 

I argued that barring injury they would still be capable of winning 35-40.   THey still might, but the injuries probably sunk those chances.  Good for us.

With them cleaning house, I'm still worried about them moving Joe Johnson's expiring for talent or picking up some useful buyout players.  The upcoming soft schedule and the end of season shenaningans where Brooklyn will have nothing to lose by losing make me still nervous this pick will creep up.   No point in counting chickens yet.  They could still go on a run and spoil our party.
