Bad news: Not getting a lot of help from Cleveland (losing to Dallas) or OKC (beating Minnesota).

Good news: Even better, though, is that New Orleans plays LAL. We win either way.

At this point it's very unlikely the Wolves climb out of the bottom 12 so that get a first.  We are probably better off rooting for them to lose so we get a very high second round pick.

I'm more concerned about their proximity to the Nets. I don't think they are really a threat and should get better as the year goes on, but just in case...

I'm still rooting for them to win because of the Brooklyn pick. High 2nds are wonderfully welcome though!

i have no idea what team i want to win today, lakers or pelicans. Bridge the gap between 2 and 3, or increase the gap between 3 and 4

At least the Bucks won last night!

LAL beating New Orleans is good but a double-edged sword... because if New Orleans (and Phoenix & the Wolves) keep playing bad and end up worse than the Nets, AND the Lakers also end up worse than the Nets then it's for naught.

Phoenix and the Wolves are really really worrying me! They just continue losing and I don't see an end in sight. And the Pelicans losing to the Lakers after losing MANY close games (and some to good teams) is also scary. I'm thinking the Nets will finally win one at home in the next couple games, and they have many upcoming games against the 76ers (and also some against Denver & Minny)...

Need the Nets to lose A LOT in the next 15 games before that "cupcake" schedule they have coming up in February/March. These next 2 at home (NYK & POR) are MUST LOSE (as all games are)!

This is so stressful! Haha

The Lakers win is probably good for our Nets pick.
Looking at the rosters, the Lakers are a better team on paper than the Nets and it really wouldn't surprise anyone to see them have a better record than the Nets in the 2nd half of the season.

The Nets are on a downward spiral and teams like the Lakers and Wolves should gel better as the season goes on.

I don't think there is any way in hell the Lakers run the risk that the protection doesn't kick in. New Orleans and Phoenix (and maybe Denver) are the teams to worry about..

You'd have to go back 10+ years and highlight the literally thousands of things I've said that were accurate.  I'm playing with house money.   It's part of the reason I have fans like you following my every word and desperately trying to find things I'm wrong about.  Get over it.

Really? And I thought that was because you took the things others said and sold them as your own.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I'm quite happy about the Lakers win. New Orleans will eventually turn this thing around. Now, granted, I've been saying that for about the past 30 games, but still...

Here's what makes me feel a little better, though, about the other teams: The west is tightly bunched at the top and tightly bunched at the bottom. Among Denver, Minneapolis, LAL, Phoenix and NOP, we're really in "any given Sunday" situations, i.e., I would expect all of those teams to be ~.500 against each other. Remember, we don't care how bad those teams are, as long as they are better than the Nets. If they do manage to play .500 ball against each other, that's a bunch of wins that the Nets have to make up.

Phoenix definitely worries me, as does Minnesota, although I think the latter is just a matter of time as they have a decent, but young, team. Also, Brooklyn still has three games against Philly, which will produce a couple of wins for them. Wow, I just looked at their February schedule. It looks like every game in that month is against Minnesota, Denver or Philly. Well, we'll root for a tough January.

It will interesting to see what approach Nets management take with their roster when they officially eliminated from the playoffs, could be more than 15 games remaining when that happens. Do they start resting Lopez from games?, trying to add some meaningless wins to their record, what difference does it make to the them if they win 23 or let's say 27 games, still a putrid season. If they do play out the string with their starters when they are emilinated, it will be a laugh riot if they suffer a serious injury that hampers them into next season aswell.
