Plus whatever we get from Dallas, Minnesota and Memphis.

The Memphis pick in particular seems like it could be pretty great.

It very well could be, but I have a feeling we might not see that pick until 2019 at the earliest.  We have to wait for Memphis to send a 1st to Denver before we can collect that pick.  And unless we don't see that pick until 2021, it's at least top 6 protected.  Still, a nice future asset to have in our back pocket.

Sigh, I always have to remember that, no matter how bad the Nets are, we still have to deal with our lottery curse. With our luck, the Nets will be the worst team and we'll still somehow end up with the 17th pick.

Mike

To be fair, if the Nets end up being the worst team, we can do no worse than the 4th pick. We already had a team from our division get that bad luck last year so two years in a row is unlikely.

Maybe it's still early but I don't see any real game changers in the draft besides Simmons. I know it's early but I feel like the last few years we all knew the top 3-4 guys from the start.

I'd gladly take Simmons or trade that pick (eg. Kevin Love trade) so lets go Nets!
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Yeah, I know, we've just had such rotten luck at the lottery that I figured we'll find a way.

Agree with you, though. I feel the same way about Simmons. Skal, Ingram and Brown all look like possibilities, and I say that with the full authority of the 12 minute scouting videos that I've seen on each. ;)

So, the Nets are 0-7.

I just spent like, half an hour, looking through the historical standings on Basketball-Reference to see which other teams in the last 15 years or so started 0-7, and how those teams finished.  Of course, the post I was making got erased because I was auto-logged out.  Sigh.

Anyway.

The basic range of outcomes for an 0-7 start were 18 wins to 29 wins.

There were outliers, though -- the 2009 Nets finished with 12 wins; the 2002 Grizzlies finished with 42 wins; and the 2004 Chicago Bulls finished with 47 wins!  That last one is nuts.

My guess at this point is that this Nets team ends up closer to the mid-to-high 20s.  But baby, let's aim for 11!  You can do it Nets!
You are a trip man. You realize they are not favored for a game for about a month? Where are these 25-28 wins coming from? Just random numbers? You beat the bush all summer on how they would win mid to high 30's. Myself and other posters gave you very detailed and lengthy reasoning on why that was highly improbable. All of the reasoning provided has come to fruition (johnson regressing, jack not being a playable starting pg and a horrid horrid bench). Anything is possible, but nothing in the numbers or what we have seen indicates the nets will not remain horrible this season.

Tp! I love his court vision and handle. His free throw stroke looks fine, which usually means he'll be able to develop a solid jumper.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yeah he's a playmaker. He looks like he has that "it" factor.

Simmons seems like the exact piece that the Celtics need right now.

11/9 At 0-7 Billy King already looking to break up the Nets juggernaut:

http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2015/11/nets-have-made-exploratory-trade-calls.html

Quote
Nets GM Billy King has made exploratory trade calls in response to the team’s 0-7 start, as he told reporters today, including Newsday’s Roderick Boone (Twitter link). It would be tough for Brooklyn to engineer a deal before December 15th, the date most of the players signed this past offseason become eligible to be traded, but the GM isn’t hiding from the blame even as he conceded a quick fix is unlikely, Mike Mazzeo of ESPNNewYork.com relays (ESPN Now link).

“I’m not sitting in here shirking accountability,” King said. “… It stops at me. I’m the GM. You make decisions along the way, and it’s my job now to figure it out and turn it around. … It doesn’t happen overnight. We knew when we traded [the first-round] picks and went down this road that if it doesn’t go well you have to dig yourself out of it, and that’s what we’re doing now.”

Outside of Young, Lopez, and RHJ (who along with Portis I would have been happy to have taken at 16), the cupboard is bare of tradeable assets and they don't have a first they can trade until 5 years out I believe.

Simmons debut. Absolute beast

I don't know if I'd consider this his "debut,"  this was an exhibition game against a D2 team that went 11-18 last year and whose tallest player is 6'9" (and that guy only played 6 minutes).

Kind of the equivalent  of getting excited over James Young D-League highlights.

Personally, I've found it a little funny in hearing so many people talk about next years potential draft class (over the last couple of weeks especially) along with comments like "he looks good from what I've seen so far."  So far?!?! Simmons, Skal, and the majority of projected 1st round picks next year haven't played one college game yet.  Hey, I'm excited about the next few drafts too, but let's wait until they get some meaningful games in before we really decide who we'd like to see on the C's.

Nothing against your post, BigAl.  I enjoy those clips too and thanks for posting, just pointing out the level of competition, if only to try to contain my own excitement.  I've just found some of the analysis on these players with no college games under their belts a little humorous.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Larkin and Karasev are on rookie scale deals, and still relatively new that another team might have some interest in them.

Ellington, Sloan, and Robinson are also on cheap deals; teams looking for a low-cost rotation player might be interested.

Granted, none of these guys are really any good. But they are cheap.

Jarret Jack's contract for next season is all but fully non-guaranteed. That's a potential trade chip.

BogBog, RHJ, and McCullough might be their best trade chips, but also the players the Nets are best served keeping.

When they refer to the December 15 date, does that include only free agents/players from outside, or does it also include players like Lopez and Young, who signed extensions?
