what's worst-case?  5 of their final 10?  That still means 6th at worst.  We're fine.

Yep, 6th spot is absolute worse scenario.

(Actually, we would not even have to consider this now had the Pacers done their duty, but oh well...)

Having said this, the most likely is that the ranking stays as it is below.

Brooklyn  making 5 wins in the last 10 will be shocking... Even 4  is  a stretch. Assuming they win 3 or less, we only need Minny to make 1 win to have the 4th spot secure.

Only thing that worries me is that Minnesota has an outrageously difficult schedule playing only with Western Conference teams, which gives them a tiny yet annoying bit of hope. Only 3 of their final 9 are winnable (Suns, Kings, Pelicans; and the cherry on the pie is they play the Pelicans last).

PS Pelicans play both Brooklyn and Minny; it is extremely unlikely that both them and Minny catch up with Brooklyn.

PPS The % that Brooklyn finishes 3rd instead of 5th are higher, but in any case they are also rather small.

Last night was truly shocking and dumbfounding. Wow. I think they will still finish 4th and not 5th, but I am disgusted at our bad luck with Cleveland and now Indy (who was winning ALL GAME) collapsing to the Nets. Bleh.

Important west coast road trip underway for the Wizards, Good win against the Lakers to start off, games at Golden St,Sacramento,Phoenix and to finish back in LA against the Clippers
Need at least a split of those games.
Still in with chance of the eighth seed, Detroit has a fairly difficult schedule to finish off the season.
Two games up against the Nets the final week of the season, you would think they should be again to win those two with a playoff spot still a chance.
Interesting to see how it plays out over the next 9-10 games.

Tonight's  Minny-Phoenix game is a win-win no matter which way you slice it for the Brooklyn pick. If the Suns win, they are tied with Brooklyn in total wins and it appears the Nets could win or tie for that 3rd seed. If Minny wins, the TWolves are four games up in the win column which would necessitate, at the very least, Minny needing to lose out and Brooklyn winning 5 of 10 in order to drop to 6th. If Minnesota wins any more games then Brooklyn has to play at .667 or better for the last 12 games of the season. That is about as unlikely as unlikely gets.

Markel Brown, Sean Kilpatrick, McCoulough, Sloan: all very good competetive guys

McCullough is a very good prospect, don't overlook him. He was a lottery level talent before his ACL injury caused him to drop, and he's healthy now. Him and RHJ are excellent starting points for rebuilding for a team that had traded away most of their picks to us. They are arguably better than James Young, Mickey and Rozier for example.

If BKN manages this win, I'm going to shoot someone. If they manage these 3 wins in a row, I bet they win a lot more games to close than we imagine. Not only b/c of better play but b/c teams are still taking them for granted and will also be resting guys.

Stupid Cavs started it. You can't give teams energy like that at this point of the season b/c if they just try a little harder they can catch a lot of the good teams sleep walking/playing.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

"Very good" is a generous assessment of those players.  Having watched over 90% of BKN's games this year, these are my thoughts:

Markel Brown has shown some flashes of being able to do some good things at the NBA level.  Pretty good defensively and will get better.  Has a nice shooting stroke.  Could become a 3 and D rotation player.

Kilpatrick is being given a chance to showcase his abilities on a horrible team that's desperately in need of scoring from the guard position, and to his credit he is taking solid advantage of the opportunity.  But here's the thing - nobody knows who he is.  He's not in the scouting report.  Nobody is gameplanning to stop the Sean Kilpatricks of the world.  If he does emerge as a consistent scoring threat as time goes on, expect coaches and players to adjust accordingly (although I actually question this, since it seems nobody seems to recognize that Thad Young is left handed - but I digress).  He's shooting 50% and 40% from 3.  I expect those numbers to regress.  He also has a total of 11 assists in 22 games (0.5 APG) despite getting a pretty good amount of playing time.

McCullough - not sure about him.   I haven't been impressed at all from what I've seen but he's a rookie returning from an ACL injury, so it's way too early to judge.

Sloan is a fringe NBA player.  Capable of putting together some solid games but not consistently good enough to earn significant playing time on a decent team.  End of the bench PG.

Phoenix only down by 8 now. They're still a joke, but I'll reserve my full tirade for if they lose.

EDIT: Down 1, now. C'mon Suns...

I'm stressed out that I'm stressing out over the wrong team needing to win.

Every few minutes I change who I'm rooting for between wolves and Suns.
