Reading this thread again is great. My only regret is that Skal L fell off as a prospect and we had to abandon foulwratherfan's "Skalenfreude" term for Nets watching
That really was a stroke of genius...
As for 16-17 Nets speculation: It's way too early. But speculating about things is what we do best here. Thus...
I believe the Nets will be better next year, ex-injuries. JJ won't be back, but they are a net buyer, no pun intended, in the off-season. They'll get somebody at the PG because they'll massively overpay, so that will be a step up. They'll also sign a bench player or two. Having said that...
Free agency is a relative game, and I don't see them getting that much better on a relative basis. Upthread, somebody mentioned Washington and Atlanta as possible blow-it-ups. I agree. They're relative losers. But the 76ers will be better and LAL might even be better without Kobe. Phoenix will almost certainly be better. Minnesota will be better, simply by virtue of age. Etc. Memphis, a shining example of why it is important to use protection (on your draft picks) has only minimal control over its picks, which go to Denver next year (protected 1-5) and us two years later (with protection).
Bottom line is that if BKN improves, I just don't think that it will be by that much. Now, let the speculation for 17-18 start...
