Looking at the standings: Brooklyn is 12-37 so still on pace for about 20 wins. The next team ahead of them in the East is Milwaukee, already with 20 wins of their own. So I think its safe to say Brooklyn will end up the 2nd worst team in the East (even with rumors of Joe Johnson asking for a buy-out, it looks unlikely that the Sixers, at 7-41, could catch Brooklyn).
In the West, the Lakers are 10-41 and the Kobe Retirement Tankathon is chugging along. I'd love to see the Lakers win more games than Brooklyn but not that would be getting too many things that I want, so I'm too nervous to hope for it.
New Orleans has 18 wins and Denver has 19. NO is still trying to win games and Denver doesn't seem committed to the tank other than being OK with not winning much, so I'm not worried about those teams.
That leaves Phoenix and Minnesota, tied at 14-36. Minnesota isn't trying to win and if Phoenix is smart, they'll stop trying (not that they have much of a choice). But those are the only teams I'm afraid of dipping below Brooklyn.
So, at worst, I think we're looking at the #5 pick in the lottery. Not bad.
