Our problem is nets are not tanking ......the other losers are

The tactical tanking teams trumps the Nets non intentional tank ...LOL
Yes especially as the season goes on.

The players on the court are NEVER trying to lose. Coaches are rarely trying to lose. I really think this is an overused narrative. The talent the Nets are fielding is poor. They are going to lose games, lots of them.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

This is going to be a tough month.

Nets schedule is looking really soft.
fortunately, those are the types of games they usually loose.
Problem is even 2-3 wins out of the next 12 games could sink our hopes for the third slot.

The thing is the bottom teams in the West still have games against each other, like the Suns play the Lakers twice more and the Twolves twice more.  The Lakers and Twolves still play each other, tomorrow in fact.  Someone has to win all of those games.  I could see the Nets passing one of those teams if they really tank, but probably not two of them.

If you put all the really bad teams, Sixers, Lakers, Nets, Suns, Wolves, Nuggets and Pelicans, then this is how those teams stack up with games remaining against the group;

Suns 7
Sixers 6 w/ 3 against Nets
Nets 9
Lakers 8
Wolves 7
Pelicans 10
Nuggets 7

Lol, well Denver won while I was doing that.  They are probably too far away for the Nets to catch for sure now, up 7 games.  Pelicans up 6 are probably uncatchable.  The Suns and Wolves are basically the only two positions left that the Nets can pass and the Lakers have an outside shot of catching the Nets and the Sixers have started playing much better.  If they can sweep the three games left against the Nets, it isn't impossible the Sixers pass them.

Dallas lost tonight and are 5-5 in their last 10. And they have Heat, Spurs and Memphis coming up. Hopefully they start to falter a bit.

I Went to the Nets game today (Free Tickets).  I found it rather amazing how they kept up the whole game. Thadius Young was pretty much invisible and Larkin assist were decent  even though Lopez made his stats look good. He had some key buckets none the less. Barclay was pretty empty so i got do move down a decent amount. Trust when I say its looking great for us. Stanley and Drummond led the way while  Reggie  finished it off smh

I'd say it's a 5 team race myself and I suspect the Nets will end up 4th after the Suns or even 5th worst. The Suns are injured and the Wolves are one of the biggest disappointments in in the league given some of their young talent. It's really difficult to win with a bunch of young players which should be a warning to the Sixers, who don't even have a semblance of a team yet.

Lopez btw deserves credit for showing up. If he didn't have the bum wheels, I'd give strong consideration for swapping the pick back.

The Nets stink just as bad as the Suns and T-Wolves.

As some above have mentioned it seems like a 5 horse race, and honestly I think Brooklyn is the best team left.

Philly I think will trend upwards as the season goes on, but they are too far out.

LA is complete garbage

Phoenix is a complete disaster ([dang] you injury Gods Eric Bledsoe was a beast and one of my favorite players)

Minnesota has elite talent, but they are a collection of talent and not a team. Towns is great, Wiggins is great, Lavine has a nice ceiling, but they are too young and have too little shooting.

Brooklyn should be interesting down the stretch. They dont have a hard schedule, but they dont seem to play the worst teams any better than the best. I think they could receive little boosts down the stretch from the return of RHJ or maybe if the fill one of the vacancies left by King or Hollins(unlikely) but they could also see guys wear down towards the end of the year. Johnson looks like hes wearing down, but hes not particularly important. Most important is Young and Lopez. The team has lost all year and I think it will be hard to motivate down the stretch knowing they are playing for nothing having just signed long term contracts and also knowing that they are more likely than not playing in front of a coach and front office which will have very little impact on the next season.

theres a lot of wishful thinking in there.

If you asked me to call it right now Id optimistically slot them in at #4, but #5 is just as likely for me. I think it will be down to the wire between them and Minny.

I wish we got Stanley Johnson. How was his game in person?

Was looking at their schedule also. Seems like they have it pretty tough from here on out.

I wouldn't be so sure that Minnesota will out-suck Brooklyn. Both teams are 1-4 in their last 5 games. Minnesota's average point differential in that span is -4.2 points. Brooklyn's is -4.6. In their last 10, Minny is 2-8 while Brooklyn is 1-9.

Phoenix concerns me a little. They also are 1-4 in their last 5 (1-9, like Brooklyn, in their last 10) but have an average point differential of -10.0 in that span. I'm hoping they move Markieff Morris at the deadline and galvanize themselves under a new coach.

On the bright side, I think even in the worst case scenario, the Nets will end up with the 5th pick. There is now a 7 game difference between Brooklyn and the 6th worst team, NOP (7-3 in their last 10). Best case, Philly (3-7 in their last 10) erases the 4.5 game gap between itself and Brooklyn, making Brooklyn the second worst team in the league. I don't think there is any chance Brooklyn out-sucks LAL, who has lost 10 straight games. Realistically, I see the pick landing with the 3rd or 4th worst odds.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

I agree. I'm going with 4th. Having watched the Suns too much for my own good, I can see how pitiful they are. It's a matter of time before they pass the Brooklyn Celticsdraftpicks. However, I'm not too concerned about the Wolves. They struggle to close games, but the talent disparity between the Wolves and the Nets, Sixers, and Suns (post Bledsoe injury) is crazy.
