I was sort of out on watching every game the Nets play, but man, tonight is going to be a great game.  Rooting for Porzingis is fun

Does this mean you are rooting for the Knicks to lose tonight so you can gleefully come on here and trot out the argument that their top 5 is solid?

Anybody who disagrees with you consistently must be doing so in a spiteful, gleeful manner with no regard for facts or context.  Yup.

I've repeated many times, I'd love for the Nets to go on a 50 game losing streak and hand us a top 5 pick, I just don't think it's likely to happen.  Nor do I think they're making the playoffs.

Their top 5 is solid.  I'm not just blindly repeating a statement with no basis.  Their main lineup is one of the best in the league by point differential.

There are persuasive arguments for why they might end up with a bottom record, but those arguments inevitably hinge on the belief that one or more of their main guys (specifically Lopez) will get injured for an extended period of time.  Certainly plausible, but by no means assured.

I wish it weren't the case.  I want to be all-in on getting excited about drafting Ben Simmons or Dragan Bender or whoever.  It would relieve many of my concerns about the rebuild.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Their top 5 has played virtually every game, and a lot of minutes at that, and whether or not their numbers are that great (on my train commute home so I'm not looking it up) the team's overall record and point differential have been quite poor.  The reserve portion of their rotation must be terrible if their starters are that good, and the benchwarmers must be useless in any case.  A healthy Nets team misses the playoff and provides a pretty good pick/lottery chances.  A team that suffers any sort of injury, as most every team does every year, is easily bottom 5.

I disagree with "any sort of injury."  I think an injury to Brook Lopez that causes him to miss a month or more, or a longer term injury to Jack or Thad Young, would be enough to set them on an extended run of losing.

Their point differential, even with their terrible start to the season (with a very difficult schedule), is only at -6.  That's bad, don't get me wrong, but a handful of other teams are around that mark or well below it, suggesting the Nets aren't a clear cut horrible team the way they appeared to be at the beginning of the season, when we were all (me included) dreaming of the Nets having a repeat of their 2009 season.

My feeling all along has been that the Nets will finish in the high 20s or low 30s unless Brook Lopez misses extended time.  A plausible but optimistic outlook would have them finishing around the same place the Celts finished two years ago, which was good for the #6 pick.  Not bad at all, but in this draft, probably not gonna yield a future All-Star.

The Nets are not a good team, but I don't think losing Deron Williams, Mirza Teletovic, and Mason Plumlee in exchange for Andrea Bargnani and RHJ is enough to turn them from a playoff team to a team that will compete with Philadelphia and LA for a top pick.

I'm not sure why that opinion gets treated like I'm denying climate change or the Big Bang Theory around here, but so be it.

Good.

I'd be watching it, "gleefully," but it's not available in League Pass.  I haven't watched enough of the Zinger.

Porzingis looks unbelievable.

I know this sounds hyperbolic, but he looks like he could be a future HOFer.  He is just a force out there.

The plus side is maybe he just looks really good because the Nets are garbage? Either way I win

I think this is only the second or third full Knicks game I've watched, but from what I've seen, he's pretty ridiculous.

No idea what will become of Russell, but for now I am very glad the Lakers didn't pick Okafur or Porzingus.

How does Porzingis compare to Anthony Davis as a rookie?  I'm not suggesting he has the same upside as AD had as a rookie, but considering he's got a three point shot, he might be more valuable, and like AD he still has a lot of growing into his frame to do.

When I have watched Porzingis, it's like somebody crossed Zydrunas Ilgauskas with Andrei Kirilenko.
