Ehhh...When it comes to the NBA Draft and Lottery---let's chill out---and FORGET about it until it happens...You'll just worry yourselves blind--So many variables from now til then.

There is literally nothing going on now. I looked at all the latest forum topics and didn't see anything more compelling to talk about.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yes, I know---But from experience---I've been through all the drafts--back to 1986--and it aint worth worrying about....all you get is disappointment, Especially being a C's fan.

From here on out I'm going to refer to him as "When Healthy Brook Lopez."

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=%22when%20healthy%20brook%20lopez%22

Imagine a team built around Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, and Brook Lopez.  The "When healthy," team.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I think they'd be less of a "team" and more of a "support group"

Throw Durant at the 3 until further notice, and Nene at the 4, and you'd have an oddsmakers' nightmare.  Anywhere from 10 wins to the title.

I can't believe this topic has gone so long now. I think everyone except the most constantly pessimistic around here agree that even with a healthy roster all year; the Nets aren't gonna see much higher than the 10th or 11th pick.

It's so obvious that this team lacks any depth at all, why is anyone saying they're the same team as last year? I didn't know Shane Larkin or Bargani played big minutes on this team last year? Even Beyond Johnson being a year older at 35 (when players start drastically declining, which he's been doing gradually for the past couple years) when your giving huge minutes to the likes of Markel Brown, Shane Larkin, Willie Reed, Andrea Bargani and Jarrett Jack your gonna be in trouble. Brook Lopez and Thad Young are just not that good.

Everyone's kinda missing the bigger picture though. The Nets had a shift in mind-set that showed itself over the summer. They're looking for flexibility and assets. If someone offers them something decent for Johnson, he's gone. If someone offers up a couple firsts and a pretty good prospect for Lopez, they'll seriously consider it. And for that to happen, he'll have to be healthy and playing the best basketball of his life. So even if Lopez is dragging them into the convo for the 8th seed, it's not a given he'll even still be there to see it through. They're obviously not trying to maximize wins over the next 3 years to give the C's as crappy of a pick as possible. If they were, they wouldn't have a bench full of young, unproven guys. One trade or injury to that team, and it's a genuine dumpster fire with us looking at a top 5 pick.

Let the people be excited. They should be. There's a very real chance we could have picks in the 1-5 and the 8-12 range. Now that's something you can make noise with.

Bargnani can barely play ball right now for his country.. no way he plays anything close to 70..  Also, if johnson or lopez goes down.. its  going to be a long season for them

Think about it. If you had to bet your house on it, names all the teams you think the nets could beat in a 7 game series? Now how can you not be optimistic.

you raised a good point.  JJ, Lopez, Young and Jarrett Jack are all likely on the market for first round picks.  Nets won't reap the reward for their own mess but they'll try to offset that by getting some young talent/picks in exchange for the few decent players they have.

Why don't we offer them a pick ourselves? David Lee, James Young, and their 2017 pick-swap for Lopez. It makes them bad this year, and incentivizes them to get worse next year when they own their own pick. Then they probably stay bad in 2018. If we get two top-5 picks instead of three picks 5-10, that's a huge win, plus we get to gamble on Lopez, which is a risk but still a better bet than free agency. Don't forget that the dude is really talented.

Though of course, Billy King probably hates Ainge now, so there's that.

The Celtics have the right to trade picks in 2017 (like Atlanta had this year), so the Nets have no incentive to get worse. They'll just be bad because they can't help it and because they might be willing to sacrifice a mediocre present for some hope for the future, by trading their best players for some picks.

I'd like us to pull through on the rumored "all-in" push for Horford, probably has to include the swap pick and a lot more, rather than giving it back to BKN for Lopez. I like Horford more even though Lopez is a monster on offense when healthy. I doubt either deal would/could be made, but I really like Al.

I wonder what it would actually take to land either... I'm sure someone will make a thread about the Horford rumor one day and I'll see what people would give up.

I was just thinking, everyone wants to send Big Sully out the door but would give up tons of assets for guys who go down every season too.

They will have to make a trade to get better. But with the cap rising they have hope that someone will want to play in the Lights. But this year the players went to smaller places like SA and Milw.
