Who would be? Also after wearing those pants I wouldn't expect him to ever be the same either.

I think he's going to pull out of it.

Might be baby steps and very slowly...but I think he'll do it.

If the whole entire celtics community prays on it in unison, it just might be possible  :D

My optimism has shrunk from a near certain HIT of a pick.... :)

To about a NEAR certain bust or huge letdown  :'(

James needs to reWATCH his play in games and look critically at himself.

It's time he started to press the FULL energy switch more often and longer .

He is standing and watching the game unfold .......he needs to grab the moment and make his own impact ,  lead by example .....not wait for stuff to happen.

I'm sense n that Jeff Green game developing .   Playing hard when he wants and never being a leader.

I agree. jeff green can score 15 pts by merely sleepwalking through a game. The same cant be said for Young. He has to take control.

He does look too nonchalant. Some focus, defensive aggression, and more movement in general is needed. Can't stand around waiting. Guy also struggles badly covering change of direction, one cross-over.... actually a simple dribble hand switch or pivot and he is toast. He has not been working on his D or he just doesn't care.

This is encouraging.

I think one of these two will snap out of it and find their footing. Who will catch fire first, Hunter or Young?

We won't know about Hunter until he actually takes a shot.

I can definitely see James Young as being a JR Smith. A guy without the highest basketball IQ in the world, super offensively skilled with the tools to be at least average on defense when he wants to, and someone whose effort level could go from day to night to day again if he goes from hot to cold and vice versa from the shooting field. When James Young starts hitting shots, he suddenly seems to get "it" and sees the floor very well. But when he's cold, it seems like the rest of the game doesn't come to him very well.

The Jeff Green comparisons are being thrown out there, but I'm not sure they quite fit. Young relies more on his jumpshot than Green, which means that even if he's putting in greater effort, he's going to look lazier spending more time on the perimeter tiptoeing (in his Jawdinz) behind defenders as opposed to stomping through the paint, as JG would do when at least mildly engaged. I think their games are much different.

Besides his defensive lapses, which are becoming legendary, my one concern is his struggle to take it to the hole and score.  He really seems to lack confidence/ability to put the ball on the floor and create something.  When he does it, he ends up putting up a low percentage shot, which is fine if he gets fouled, but a turnover if he does not.

I have no worries about his 3 point shot on the catch and shoot; the kid can shoot, it will even out eventually. but, given his inability to score other ways, it might make it more difficult to "shoot" his way out of the slump. The better players, when they struggle from the outside, regain their confidence with a couple of closer shots. Hard to do for Young, given his struggle to create on his own.

I don't see that. JR actually can play some D and he can go strong to the hoop. Plus he wouldn't be missing open 3's - he barely misses greatly defended 3's. Problem with him is he's a punk and a dirty player. Maybe Young needs to develop a nasty streak. Does Perkins have a basketball camp?

JR is actually pretty notorious for missing open 3s when he is cold. When he is hot on the other hand he is legitimately uncoverable.
