He was bad in 2 summer league games? Trade him. See what you can get for him now because there is just no history of 19-year olds improving after falling flat in the NBA Summer league. Especially after a sample size as large as two games. Trade the bum now. [/sarcasm]

Of course it's too early to give up on him, but he earned the criticism.  He's been embarrassingly bad.
He's certainly been bad so far but these two games are meaningless. His failure to live up to expectations are especially meaningless because those expectations were created, mostly, by people who've barely watched him play and don't know where his development is at. This, as of now, is a non-story to me.

Fair enough, but I've personally suffered through watching both games.  It's hard not to vent and his play has been surprisingly bad.  Not sure if I will punish myself further by watching any more summer games.

BAHAHAHA they were awful but IMO all summer games are terrible it's like pick up ball. I've learned to focus on players that are under contract and see if they have any game. Hopefully Young will have a big game Thursday otherwise there will be a lynch mob waiting for him.

I think people are reading too much into this.  If this was a question of whether he could dominate inferior competition, we already know that answer since he did so last year at the D-League level.

At this point, I'd just chalk this up to a bad couple of games and wouldn't go off the deep end yet.

He stunk lay year on an nba team.  Summer league with weaker competition he should be better.  I said he'll start slow then pick it up.  I have serious doubts tho.

That's all well and good, but he also had some dominant d-league games, so clearly he can dominate weaker competition. Thus, I'd sooner jump to the conclusion that he's just had a bad couple of games than jump to the conclusion he can't even dominate subpar competition.

None of that means he will be a viable NBA player. I just think it's ridiculous for anyone to start making proclamations after two summer league games.

He could shoot threes against the inferior, d-league competition, but his D was dreadful against them--as it's been in SL.

the threes will come ,the takeaway should be his improvement in work ethic ,his concentration on d maybe effecting his shot-can always bring gi gi back-seeing weare going old and tying to increase players values by trade deadline-full trade mode vs full tank

"concentration on d?"   When? The last game he had cement shoes. He looked awful on D. Or do you mean by concentrating that he is thinking about it but not actually doing it?

I think Young is a bust.
He seems slow footed and his shot is too flat.

Fab melo tore up the d league too.  How'd that work out?  Some guys have that it factor.  James young does not.  I wish danny would start drafting guys that get after and show good work ethic with our picks rather than projects that have glaring unteachable skills.

I'm going to give the benefit of a doubt, and see if he can right the ship. An 18-20 point outing will quiet everyone.
I have to admit he doesn't look comfortable out there, beside his shot not falling.

Gerald Green showed promise from his first summer league games.
Young hasn't shown anything in a year.

i've always been lukewarm on James Young but i guess i was one of the few. he's still really raw and he's not even passing the "eye test" yet.

Can I ask where the attitudinal shift is coming from? Summer league? Per a couple months ago:

Sullinger, Olynyk, and Smart are good young players. James Young is only 19.

This year's draft has started with Isaiah Thomas and two first round picks.

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
