Well hopefully it's the #2 pick.  I hate whenever there is a Laker want and all the writers start making these absurd suggestions as if they have credence.  Typically they'd say something stupid like "Lakers could swap Nick Young and a handful of trash for Demarcus Cousins".  I think there is one trade suggestion per year where the writer has the Lakers giving up nothing.  Like they all want to relive the Pau Gasol trade which actually worked well for both teams but at the time looked horrendous.

I think anyone would have been able to see this potentially coming. Really similar to last summer with Kevin Love when other teams just had trump cards that the Cs didn't have like Golden State with Klay Thompson  and Chicago with Nicola Mirotic before Cleveland came out with the Wiggins, the Ace.

Worse things could happen, but if it's a player who will take assets to acquire like Cousins, it at least takes up cap space for another potential suitor of the free agent crop. Glass half full, y'all.

We had trump cards to Chicago, but not GSW or Cleveland.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

If Sacramento is legitimately worried about Cousins growing impatient or toxic, it could be worth considering a package like Randle + #2 + Clarkson for Cousins + Collison.

Would the Lakers really give up so much, though?  I wouldn't do it for just the #2 if I were Sac.

By the way, this is what I posted about a month or two ago -- there will be teams ready to trade for Cousins that have high draft picks they are willing to give up for him.  The Celts don't have that kind of firepower.

They have high draft picks sure but what else do they have to offer?

Forget about anyone trading for Cousins that's not realistic. What the Kings need is help around him this is where we should be focusing. Trading players like AB, Sully, KO, etc. and our picks for their pick.

I thought the Knicks would pursue him hard. Looks like they went another direction.

I think the deal if it goes down will be:

Lakers get Cousins
Kings get Vucevic, Clarkson
Orlando gets #2, #6, Randle

Lakers sign Wade. Off to the races they go

Randle or #2 would be going to sac, orl isn't getting 3 high lottery picks for Vucevic

People proposing trades where their team gets a star for a bunch of trash?  I hate that too, it's a good thing we don't have to deal with that nonsense around here  ;).

You think Vucevic is worth more than Cousins?  Because #2, #6, and Randle for Vuc would be absolutely highway robbery for Orlando.  Giving up Cousins and #6 for Vucevic and Clarkson would be the equivalent of dropping an atom bomb on the Kings franchise.

I doubt this trade happens, but if it does, I can't imagine the Kings settling for anything less than the #2 pick and Randle from LA...or, at least that's what LA would have to give up to get him in a 3-way trade. The Lakers have very few other assets that anybody would want.

If you had a disgruntled Cousins on your team, how much would you want in return to justify a trade?

This is worse than #16 for Michael Bennett.

Good point. So Randle and the 6 to Orlando? 2 and Vucevic to Sac? I know LAL isn't getting Cousins and the 6

The Kings really have no reason whatsoever to deal Cousins. I think this is just the other teams fishing and hoping Cousins gets the message and demands a trade, because that's the only way the Kings feel any pressure at all to unload him. He's young, talented, and locked up on a multiyear deal - what's the point in dealing him and starting over yet again?

In two years when he only has one year remaining on his deal and the team is still horrible, that will be the time when he becomes available.
