I think we are still young and developing certain players.  Particularly Sullinger needs to step up his game.  If we get some playoff experience so be it. Putting out feelers for certain players is good. But per usual basketball is about development and not doing anything stupid for the time being.

297 TPs, then.

Cant wait for my TPs

---
Barring a last-minute change in direction, all indications are now that the #Celtics will stand pat at today's trade deadline.

Ouch.  I Thomas to the C's in a last minute deal.
Looks like you will have to earn those 297 TPs.   I will give you a pity point to get you started.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Wow, what a pointless thread title, most likely created by a Knicks fan because Celtics fans do not give up like the person who created this thread which is now completely pointless.

who knew Phoenix was aiming for Knight and Bucks wanted MCW.

Well at least I was right about one thing. RM did help out Ainge it looks like.  Marcus Thornton and a late 1st for Thomas is a very nice deal

Double ouch.

I had a feeling you "Richard Shermaned" yourself with the celebration with a good hour left. ;D

That said, I didn't realize you lost TP's in these bets. I thought you just had to give someone TP's. Live and learn I guess.

I can't hate this deal. That Cle 1st is probably gonna be 25 or better and IT's money is relatively short for the next three seasons.

It's a terrific deal. RM might of got a better offer somewhere else but decided to help Danny. Danny helped RM by giving him first dibs to Wright

While I did not believe Ainge would land Isaiah Thomas, I fully expected something along the lines of the Prince deal.

Heck, I'm sure there are trade calls still out there to be tied up. Ainge may not be done.

TP back to triboy for being a good sport.

Gotta say that it took some stones to put all his TPs on the line.  Unfortunately, he picked a trade deadline when Danny is on a mission.

I dont understand what we are doing as a franchise right now. We clearly aren't tanking, and if we are, Ainge is pretty horrible at it. Are we trying to get the eighth seed? Gee-Wilikers can't wait to root for my team to get bounced in 4 games!

I think the team is set up to be an enticing destination for good players who value winning over social lives.  Ideally, make the playoffs with a core of players who have cheap enough contracts so that there is room to sign a top free agent and possibly a sidekick, with a stash of picks that makes acquiring a supporting cast possible and a GM who knows how to use those picks.

The main thing right now is to build up Brad Stevens as a coach who is creating a good situation for players to thrive in.  Making a charge into the playoffs, even if it results in a quick exit, is the sort of thing that makes the Celtics look like a young team on the rise with a coach worth playing for.

Yeah I will also add you can't tell your team to throw games, we can't just buy out our vets as it would cost way too much money, nobody wants anything for them and they're good to have around our 4 young guys that matter (Smart, Young, Sully & KO).  No players that would have helped us become title contenders or even 5th seed contenders in the weak east were moved today and Cousins became unavailable when the Kings signed Karl.  So what do you want to do?    Let's give Smart and Sully some good minutes with a passable team and see what happens.

Plus, Isaiah will be here for awhile.  I think we'll sign a couple good players sooner or later and he'll be useful before that and after.  Good signing.

Yeah. As usual, LC nailed it.
