I think any team that gives up tangible assets for the likes of Brandon Bass, Marcus Thornton and Tayshaun Prince is stupid as hell. I mean... MAYBE a team would give up a 2nd rounder for Bass, but beyond that, you'd have to be pretty stupid to give up pieces for guys that will likely be bought out in a week.
There are stupid GMs out there, though... so who knows.
I don't expect Boston to be involved in anything beyond maybe picking up 2nds as a facilitator. Should be an interesting trade deadline nonetheless.
I don't think it's unreasonable.
Lets be fair, out of tge 30 or so second rounders in every draft, how many of those ever develop into a starting calibre player...or even a 6th man?
Id say maybe 2 or 3 at best. If you manage to get E'Twaun Moore out of a 2nd round pick, then you've done pretty well.
Bass is legitimately capable of contributing as a starter on a playoff team - he did it for us, and he's improved significantly since then. Prince was already contributing as a starter for Memphis, who were doing pretty well with him in that role. Thornton isn't really a starting calibre guy, but I could see him being a major impact player on a playoff team that needs that little extra scoring punch off the bench. He's often compared to Bayless and Jordan Crawford, but he's a far better player than both of those guys and much less of a head case. He's actually been one of my favourite players on this Celtics squad - always plays hard and on many nights he's been our best scorer.
I think if you're a veteran tab trying to make a playoff push, every one of those three guys is more valuable taverns a second rounder. Especially since they all expire next year too.
