Gotta give Cavs front office some props with cap management.  They should be hovering right around the 1st apron with the Harden signing. They're hard capped at it so it shouldn't take much to get under if need be depending on how the Harden deal is structured.

If you look at the advanced stats they actually should win the championship next year.

ahem* Kenny Atkinson *ahem

Out of general curiosity, who did the advanced stats have winning the title at the beginning of last year?
Couldnt have been anyone but OKC

I'd imagine that was probably the case.

George Karl: Some franchises aren?t capable of supporting their legends the right way. Nikola Jokic was on a path to becoming one of the Top 10 players to ever play basketball. That wasn?t realistic in Denver.

The Denver Nuggets have turned their attention to signing DeMar DeRozan, sources told Chris Haynes.

The decision comes on the heels of the team trading Peyton Watson to the Cavs on Wednesday.

I don't think DeRozan is what DEN needs. Defense. Rebounding. Athleticism. Outside shooting. Those are the biggest needs for DEN. DeRozan doesn't provide any of those 4 characteristics.

Still, DeRozan would be an upgrade over Spencer Jones / Julian Strawther so he is worth pursuing.

Per Shams and ESPN: Klay Thompson expected to sign with Miami after clearing waivers.

Wish we could have gotten him.

Klay does not move the needle much at this point. I would rather give those minutes to the young guys.

I think Klay is a middle of the pack bench player now.

Reality is, the C's aren't really a destination at this very moment, other teams like the Sixers/Heat are more desirable for obvious reasons. Even Denver right now at least still feels like they got something with Jokic/Murray still intact and DeRozan can help them create offense in spurts

Big 3 in Denver.

Too bad probably still a 4 or 5 seed in the West.

Looks like Miami are moving forward with Dru Smith as their backup PG. I wonder how that experiment will go. He showed some capacity as a SG.

That Klay Thompson & Timmy Hardaway Jr defensively will be the worst 1-2 combination at the SG position in the league.

G: Davion Mitchell, Dru Smith
G: Tim Hardaway Jr, Klay Thompson
F: Andrew Wiggins, Pelle Larsson, S Fontecchio
F: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jovic
C: Bam Adebayo, Bobby Portis

Portis the only above average bench player on the team. Two middle of the pack bench guys in Klay & Larsson. Below average ones in Dru Smith and N Jovic. A below average bench unit.

I don't like that they don't have a legit center on the team other than Bam. Bam tends to get injured. Then they have nobody on the team other than Giannis who can play center. Bobby Portis always struggles when he has to play center. He is a forward. Not a center. He can't anchor a defense. He is just a cog in a defense.

I wouldn't be shocked if this team misses the playoffs. The injury risk to Giannis & Bam is considerable.
