Were I am him, I would want to go to Houston.

I thought i saw a quote saying dragic likes houston but afraid being traded down the road
Probably coming from Dragic's agent. Just a little subtle message to Morey that he doesn't trust him.
Players/agents tend not to trust that Morey is looking to keep them

I know people were worried about Danny having a similar image from potential moves in the past, but if you are a good player, wouldn't you be pretty pumped that if you don't work out here, Danny will look to pit you in a good situation?

I know some people say that Danny isn't loyal, but to me he's really loyal to his guys (in a 21st century NBA sort of way)

I think he's #1 in regards to relationships with players + agents.  He's well liked around the league, that's my hunch.

He's certainly in the top couple.  He's been around a long time, so agents have a feel for him, which helps.  He's pretty direct in that he'll always explore anything that makes the team better.  I'm sure there are players for whom that isn't the right situation, however.  Constantly being mentioned in trade rumors, either real or imagined, has to get tiring.  But I doubt he makes many, or any, promises he can't keep.

In general I think players respect management who came from the ranks of being players more than they do suits who came through the front office.  Which is natural, since there's more shared experience.  A guy like McDonough or Hinkie will have to earn that respect more.  Both are off to poor starts, and would be wise to recognize that shortcoming before it's too late.

So Ainge spends a 6th overall on Smart.

Then he spends two years building up assets so he can get Dragic who is who he is. Doesn't make any sense to me at all....but, who needs sense? There's 96 inches of snow on the ground and Dragic wants to play for a lottery team....right now.

The Boston Celtics have:
26 out of the NBA's next 133 draft picks.
Have enough TPE space to resolve the City of Detroit's municipal debt.
Have four veteran guys who could actually help a team now.
Are run by a guy with the nickname..."trader Danny."
Stevens who has already coached 47 different NBA players in a year and a half.

Just throwing it out there that these "facts" might be the foundation for every journalist everywhere to say ..."(blank) is on the block and the Celtics could be a home for him because, well, they are a home for everybody."

Hey! The Celtics are interested in a guard! Makes sense they already have 8 of them....why not 9? Stevens can set the world on it's ear with two count'em two five man all guard rotations. Think of all the cap space they can save by not paying any legitimate bigs?

20 years ago...Red to Danny..."Listen, Ainge...when the time comes to rebuild? Go small....go as small as you can...trade for guards then trade for picks and then trade those picks for more guards."

FWIW - Chris Mannix saying Dragic doesn't want to come to Boston....

Chris Mannix @ChrisMannixSI  ·  1m 1 minute ago
Boston an intriguing trading partner for PHX because of assets, but sources close to Dragic say: He isn't interested. Doesn't like BOS fit.
0 replies 17 retweets 3 favorites

Well that just totally goes against what Broussard is saying..LOL..oh the joys of trade deadline.

It also goes against another what another SI writer said.  Tough to see where those conflicting stories are coming from -- there's definitely a list of teams, and the C's either are or are not on it.  The C's clearly know if they are or aren't on it.  You would think if they knew Dragic wasn't at all interested, they'd back away.  You'd also think that Mannix generally has good Boston sources.  Pretty confusing.

Pretty much everything I've read to this point is that C's are on the outside looking in as far as Goran's preferences but are willing to gamble on acquiring him and convincing him to stay.

At this point - with as much as the C's have been mentioned in connection with him - it would've leaked if we were on that list.

And there's this:
Quote
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA  ·  5h 5 hours ago
Yahoo Sources: Suns much more focused on discussing Dragic deals w/ Celtics, Rockets, Kings, among others, than any teams on guard's list.

Sounds very much (imo) that we're not on the list and more & more like we're just Suns leverage.

good , go after reggie jackson, much younger with more upside. Has played in boston already at bc

bradley and clips pick for jackson

Jackson would make more sense because he's a RFA and we'd reserve the right to match an offer sheet. Much less risk.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

This is crazy Ijust realised the deadline is so close

Anyway we don't do a deal for dragic cuz he's 28
has limited ceiling and wants to play for a winner judging by the teams he wants to resign with: Knicks, lakers, Pacers, heat

And he wants to start as PG
I think the pacers nab him unless bird wants to rebuild without west and hibbert
Cuz the rest of these teams don't have much assets to trade

For Dragic, the Suns are pursuing packages that include a young player with significant potential and a first-round draft pick or two first-round picks, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

How about KO and Dal pick? I am not giving up Smart or young for a older possible rental .

I would offer Bradley and either the Dallas or Clippers pick. I think if Ainge talks to Dragic and gives him some insight into what the roster will look like next year and beyond, he will change his mind about coming to Boston and signing with us long term.

I don't know if someone posted this already but I didn't know a player could be so open while under contract...

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/nba_coverage/2015/02/suns_dragic_i_dont_trust_them_anymore?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bostonherald%2Fsports%2Fbasketball+%28Celtics+%26+NBA+-+BostonHerald.com%29

"I don't trust them anymore," Dragic said after the Suns practiced on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old guard's points and assists are down considerably from last season, when he was third team all-NBA. He said he doesn't like his role of "standing in the corner" and wants to go to a team where he can "be a point guard, like in the past I was my whole life."

"To be a point guard, to run the team and have the ball in my hands and try to make plays for others," Dragic said. "That's who I am."
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Zach Lowe spoke about how much the Cs value Olynyk and how they consider him part of their future. That said, I expect Sullinger, who has 1 less year remaining on his rookie deal and has had some off the court issues, to be traded instead of Olynyk.

Being able to give Okynyk major minutes during the second half of the season could result in serious improvement. Sullinger is a good player, but the expected growth (no pun) simply hasn't been there.

Don't over pay for Dragic. I'd love to see him in green but worries me he'll bolt at the end of the year. If Danny really wants him, sign him at a free agent.

Trading Sully for a rental in Dragic is a terrible overpay

Not necessarily.  There is an added benefit...Getting Dragic now will give the C's the ability to offer him 5 years while other teams will only be able to offer 4.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Considering that Boston isn't one of his desired trade destinations, I don't think that Danny will be able to get him as a free agent.  Trading for him now will allow Dragic to see what the C's are all about and it will also give Boston an advantage in contract negotiations.

That's about the upside of trading for him.   Hoping he'll like the team, see a future , and consider resigning.

I don't know ....is he the guy to lead a contender team in Boston ?

Solid points. If we get him Danny's got to resign him. I can't see anyone giving up 2 first round picks for Dragic. Offer the clips pick and Bradley.
