Well i would not trade okafor for cousins.  I wouldnt trade smart for cousins.

That makes one of us. I'd move Smart in a heartbeat.

Seriously?? You would trade Smart for Cousins?

I'm trying to figure out if this is sarcasm.

I really like Smart, but I don't see any realistic scenario other than a potential crippling injury to DMC where he'd have more value than Cousins.

Smart is the anti cousin. Plays hard 24/7.  He also has not shown us everything he is capable of.

How do you know he wont be a better overall player than cousins? He is already a better defensive player.
Cousins is already one of the best NBA centers and he is only 24 so he might not be at his peak performance yet.  It is possible that Smart reaches Cousins level but it is much more likely that he won't.  Just like Bradley, I think Smart's defense is overhyped.  As he's asked to do more on offense, I expect his defense to suffer.  I also don't see Smart as a true PG.  He's going to need to be paired with someone like Dragic or Ellis who can share the load of running the offense.

If Smart defense is over-hyped, who is a better perimeter defender in your books??

Cousins is one of the best centers ??  He is over-hyped

He scores 20/10 yet his team loses games after games. He doesn't know how to boost his team.  From what i have seen, he tries to do everything himself on the offensive end. Rarely takes charges , dives for the ball etc on the defensive end.

He doesn't do the little things to take his game to another level.  Smart on the other hand, is all about the little things that don't show up on the stat sheets. Once he feels more comfortable and puts up some better stats, he will be a special player. Do whatever it takes to win kind of player

He's the best.

Smart has shown some good things no doubt, and I think everyone feels that way about their own young players. I think McLemore will be a good NBA SG, I don't know if I wouldn't trade him for Klay Thompson or an established star, but everyone likes their own young players

I'm not even going to comment on your suggestion that Smart is more valuable to a team then Cousins.  As much as I love Smart as a player, this concept is just way to laughable that I can't even take it seriously enough to justify a serious response.

But, as ridiculous as that claim is, you have the right to believe it if you so choose.

Regarding your comments about DMC not helping his team and being overhyped however, that I have to comment on because that's just plain untrue.

Let me quote some +/- stats for you - these indicate how a team players when the specified play is on (versus off) the court:

Lebron James: +17.5
Stephen Curry: +16.6
Demarcus Cousins: +16.0
Kyrie Irving: +16.3
Chris Paul: +14.4
Anthony Davis: +13.5
Blake Griffin: +11.7
James Harden: +11.3
Klay Thompson: +11.2
Carmello Anthony: +10.1
Jeff Teague: +9.4
Russell Westbrook: +8.1
Kevin Durant: +7.6
Dwight Howard: +6.1
Dwyane Wade: +4.3
Pau Gasol: +3.4
Chris Bosh: +3.4
Marc Gasol: +2.2
Tim Duncan: -3.2

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to work out, from these stats, that Demarcus Cousins helps his team just as much as any superstar in this league.

The Kings are 16 points per 100 possessions better when he is on the court, versus when he sits on the bench.  That is massive - from all the stats I've seen so far, only Lebron James and Stephen Curry have a bigger impact on their team's success.

Just for your entertainment, Marcus Smart has an on/off stat of +9.6 - this is I believe the highest of all Celtics players, and show's that he probably impacts the Celtics success more than any other player on their Roster...but does he have more impact then DMC?  No...and very few players do.

I honestly have not seen a single (team or individual) statistic that indicates DMC is anything but short of a top 5-10 player in the NBA.  It's a well known fact that every time Cousins is off the court, the Kings turn to dust and crumble.

Oh and to add to the above - Demarcus Cousins isn't a 20/10 guy.  He's a 24/12 guy.

Oh, and among all NBA centers he ranks top 10 in:

- Rebounding (3rd)
- Scoring (1st)
- Assists (4th)
- Blocks (10th)
- Steals (2nd)

DMC is not a star..he's a superstar.

He is absolutely, undeniably the best center in the NBA...and it's really not close.

+1. He's not in full gear either. Been mismanaged and demoralized since the coaching change

honestly It doesn't matter.    As long as the Kings stink what good are those stats?  Its like the Carmelo effect

Cousins if he cared about winning will feel the same way

Kings have some good talent on their roster and what 3-4 top 10 picks + Gay , Collison, etc.  Cousins needs to do more to get his teammates involved . Take more charges, dive for ball and stop getting easily disturbed

Take a wild guess which NBA player leads the league in charges taken.  Seriously.

I won't ruin the surprise:  Please don't give strong opinions on players you have little clue about (link)

In case you think it's a fluke:  Yes, he's done it two years in a row.

I don't know why he was upset this time.   Pretty tight game.

I've noticed he sets pretty weak picks and isn't really into offense when he doesn't have the ball.   Maybe a change of scenery will do him good.   Talented, no doubt.

I'm very pro-Cousins, and think a lot of the criticism is unwarranted.  But according to the NBA's brand-new player tracking stats, he's dead last in distance covered per 48 minutes -- 525th out of 525 players.  Someone's got to be last, but it probably shouldn't be a franchise player.

I wonder what Roy thinks about this stat.

The effort is not consistent. You can just tell by watching games

I think it's a fairly useless stat, honestly.  Interesting, maybe, but if your center is running all over the court, he's doing something wrong.

Did you see who else is at the bottom of the list?

David West
Chris Bosh
Marc Gasol
Nikola Pekovic
Hassan Whiteside
Brook Lopez
Dwight Howard
Andrew Bogut
Kevin Durant
Al Jefferson
Tim Duncan
Dirk Nowitzki
LaMarcus Aldridge

Those guys are all below 500th in the league on a per-minute basis.  Guys below #450th include Lebron James, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, Roy Hibbert, Al Horford and Pau Gasol.

Once again, I assume that you wouldn't want any of those guys on the Celtics?  I mean, if they don't even rank in the top-450 in the NBA of running around the court, they must not be putting in effort, correct?

He is like someone stuck in a bad marriage or relationship .

The effort is not always there.  He is not happy ...he is going though the motions mostly.

He needs a new city, new teammates and new coach .

Because there is no interest in the team.  His effort sputters. He keeps letting slick talkers get him to sign on the dotted line.....for another wasted stay .   He needs to pull a KLove and just announce he is leaving and be done with it.

He rarely looks like he is stressed to play at the NBA level.....it comes so easy to him.

I think he needs out of his long soured relationship with the Kings .  It's really unbelievable how long and how much time he has put into this organization. And them into him......why keep him locked up somewhere he doesn't want to be .

IMO ....time has come for Cousins to grow up and ASK out of a situation that he should have left years ago .

He has been taking bad advice , he can earn another simular paycheck at any number of teams that actually are managed right .

I love the kid, regardless of where he's playing.  I get down on guys who are lazy or who break the law.  Boogie does neither.  He works hard, and usually plays hard.  Yes, he's emotional, but I've got a soft spot for that.

Check my sig.  I acquired Boogie in that league last year because I'm a huge believer in him.  He and Kyrie Irving are my favorite young players in the league.  Like everyone else, I'm a big fan of Anthony Davis and Damian Lilliard, as well.  Nobody doubts their greatness, though.
