Ainge needs to stop overpaying for players like Bass and Bradley.

If we want Henson, and he is actually available, it would take a young player with potential who works cheap like Olynyk. Bass is 29 and I don't think would be the kind of player they would be looking for. Sanders might be a different story. He makes $11 million a year for the next 4 years and has huge off court issues. I think Bogans and Bass plus two of our less valuable 1st round picks would give them huge cap relief and might be something they would consider if we want to roll the dice.

I think there should be a rush to trade him. no playoff team bit at the deadline last yr. - his ideal fit. so I think we need to lower the asking price, something I've been saying since last yr's deadline went and passed.

Right now, it seems like the asking price includes not having to take on any money beyond this season.  Do you think Ainge should relent on that and agree to take back a player who is not good enough to start anywhere in the league and who is signed for $5-7m for two or three more seasons?

Yeah, GS declined using their TPE to absorb Bass and they let it expire instead. I can't imagine the asking price for Bass is all that high.

That being said, I have no idea what Danny expects as compensation. Bass is a good player on an expiring contract. Does he simply want to trade him and Bogans for a competent center (Sanders, Pekovic) or is he still trying to give him away without receiving anything in return? What teams still have cap space who would have an interest?
IIRC, GS didn't use it because they were still in the hunt for Love.  Minny kept them twisting in the wind.  until GS knew (maybe they still don't) they weren't getting Love, they couldn't afford to take on salary.  I firmly believe that if GS knew for certain they couldn't land Love they'd have snatched up Bass with part of that TPE.  he'd be pretty solid in their frontcourt rotation.

I believe you're right. Is there still the possibility for some sort of deal to get him there?

I don't think you understand the market real well right now.  Take a look around at the contracts that have been handed out in this league.

Can't read the entire thread right now but been saying this all along.  Bass has at best, zero value.

I don't know what's Danny's asking price for bass but I think it's silly to say there's at best zero value for him

Bass would be a nice big off the bench, he is a not a starter on a good team unless he is the fourth or fifth option.  He can shoot well and D some.   He is not a great rim protector, is undersized and always has been a weak rebounder for a PF.  He definitely has value but it is niche value.

I find both the bucks mentioned intriguing.   But Sanders is not without risk.   Henson is slight of frame but a superb shot blocker.   I would be happy if we could swing Bass and Bogans for something along his lines.

I want to trade for our future rim protector. His name is john henson and he plays for Milwaukee.
when he plays about 20 minutes he avg 11.1ppg 7.1 rpg and 1.7bpg with a PER of 17.97 and he is 23 years old.
he is also very cheap he costs only 2 million for 2 years. the money works out on nba trade machine here: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nbj2svo
I say we give them bass and a clippers pick for him. we already want bass gone. were half way there and the bucks are rumored to be wanting to trade him.

I would love this trade...but Milwaukee won't do it... :-\

I am hearing people say that Milwaukee would not do it. I don't understand that if they weren't into larry saunders why did they pay him 11 million for four years. also here are links saying Milwaukee is interested in maybe trading henson.

Bass is an upgrade over their current starting power forward
 bass stats:11.1 ppg 5.7 rpg 0.9bpg and per of 15.01 with a contract of 6.9 million.age 29
Ilyasova ( their starting PF):11.2ppg 6.2rbg 0.1bpg and a per of 13.85 and a contract of 7.9 million.age 27
The articles say they want a mid-or late first round pick for him. So  I think Milwaukee might want this deal.
zach lavine-jeremy lin-tyus jones
jeremy lamb-tyshen prince-Andre miller
will barton- beljina-
Kevin love-kevin garnet-payne
Karl anthoney Towns-JJ hickson

They aren't going to trade a cost-controlled power forward on a rookie deal for Brandon Bass.

I can see where you're coming from, but its a good idea to think on why they've made players available, and when.

It isn't typically something that you can look at in a vacuum, especially considering that one of those articles is from the trade deadline in 2013, and the other two were centered around the 2014 draft. Context is important.

Well, I can tell you with strong amount of certainty that Ainge doesn't honestly think he can trade Bass and Bogans for players of Sanders or Pekovics' level.

Obviously I realize that Bass and Bogans aren't on the level of Sanders/Pek in terms of value. They would be the base salary used along with a young player/picks.

I don't know if this works for our team, just a thought - like those discussing a trade for Henson.

$6.9 mil just way too much for Bass.  He'd be so much easier to dump if he was making $4-5 mil.  That contract has always irritated me and now I'm sure it's irritating Ainge.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

You got irritated over a 1.5 - 2 million dollar difference ?
Come on man, get serious.

Be irritated over contracts like Gordon Hayward's, not one like this.

actually, 7 mil for Bass is JUST right, considering how much Bradley will be making

True that.

Marv Throneberry was MVP of the 62 Mets....or was it Richie Ashburn?  ???

If I'm the GM of a contender, I'm trading for Brandon Bass.  I think I'd be willing to give up a 1st round pick if I get a little something extra.

Which contender needs that hole filled on the roster, though?
Dallas.

They have Dirk and Chandler, who are each capable of 30-35 minutes, and then nobody.  They have Brandon Wright and Ivan Johnson after voiding Lewis' contract.  And Tyson isn't exactly known for his health.
good observation.  not sure what they have that would be good for us.  looking at the roster, only Parsons would be appealing and he obviously isn't going anywhere
