  • No no no, not THAT "Eric M Van".
According to Lowe's article  there's limited place for his kind of game in this version of the NBA Today because he can't jack 3's, he's old(er) and he makes too much $$$$$.   (6.9 Mill?)

Teams just aren't all that interested (at this point in the season) in a guy who "is what he is" and the days of expiring contracts being ever so attractive appears to be way over.

With the amount of talent that came in to the league in this years deep deep draft, teams may just sit on "upside" talents instead of trying to shoe horn a limited talent onto their roster.

Nice guy in the wrong era.

The phrasing he actually uses is that the stretch four/three shooting big is being 'festishized among big men at the expense of other skills,' which I thought was quite nice (and accurate).

Always interesting to see just how much of the NBA is the blind following the one-eyed when it comes to NBA strategy and roster construction.

Yeah, When I read that I was thinking back to the NFL the year every body had to have a John Riggins clone in the Back Field after Washington won the SB waaaaaay back (the NFL is notorious for flavor of the month).

NBA this year it's the SA model after years of the 3 headed monster model......it's like New England weather.

Bass would actually be pretty good for a team like the Cavs (he would also work in Atlanta and Washington), they just don't have anything they can trade for him.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Hmmm, I'd take Wiggins for him.......   ;)

Did ATL waive Salmons yet? Maybe we could trade Bass for Salmons and waive him?

How about trading for Jason Thompson? Get another younger big in the mix and relieve SacTown of some salary?

Blue Edwards style!

Traded by the Jazz to the Bucks for Jay Humphries in '92.

Traded back to the Jazz by the Celtics for Jay Humphries in '95.

I want to trade for our future rim protector. His name is john henson and he plays for Milwaukee.
when he plays about 20 minutes he avg 11.1ppg 7.1 rpg and 1.7bpg with a PER of 17.97 and he is 23 years old.
he is also very cheap he costs only 2 million for 2 years. the money works out on nba trade machine here: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nbj2svo
I say we give them bass and a clippers pick for him. we already want bass gone. were half way there and the bucks are rumored to be wanting to trade him.

that's a good alternative to Larry Sanders. I'd make that trade. Bass for Henson and fillers, Henson and a 2nd rounder

I don't think Atlanta or Washington needs Bass.

Atlanta just signed Mike Scott to a new three year deal for $10 million and also added Adreian Payne in the draft. An older NBA ready rookie. No need for Bass.

Washington just signed Kris Humphries to play behind Nene and Gortat. No need for Bass.

Yeah, I think Henson is their backup plan if Larry Sanders can't get his act together off the court.

I think there should be a rush to trade him. no playoff team bit at the deadline last yr. - his ideal fit. so I think we need to lower the asking price, something I've been saying since last yr's deadline went and passed.

Bass, Green and Wallace are worth more to this team not playing for it than they are actually playing for it.

Right now, it seems like the asking price includes not having to take on any money beyond this season.  Do you think Ainge should relent on that and agree to take back a player who is not good enough to start anywhere in the league and who is signed for $5-7m for two or three more seasons?
