I want to trade for our future rim protector. His name is john henson and he plays for Milwaukee.
when he plays about 20 minutes he avg 11.1ppg 7.1 rpg and 1.7bpg with a PER of 17.97 and he is 23 years old.
he is also very cheap he costs only 2 million for 2 years. the money works out on nba trade machine here: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nbj2svo
I say we give them bass and a clippers pick for him. we already want bass gone. were half way there and the bucks are rumored to be wanting to trade him.

I would love this trade...but Milwaukee won't do it... :-\

Yeah, I think Henson is their backup plan if Larry Sanders can't get his act together off the court.

I think Henson is their plan A, actually.

And there's approximately zero chance that Milwaukee does that trade, IMO.

I think there should be a rush to trade him. no playoff team bit at the deadline last yr. - his ideal fit. so I think we need to lower the asking price, something I've been saying since last yr's deadline went and passed.

Right now, it seems like the asking price includes not having to take on any money beyond this season.  Do you think Ainge should relent on that and agree to take back a player who is not good enough to start anywhere in the league and who is signed for $5-7m for two or three more seasons?

yeah, I didn't read the article but if that is what is needed to move bass then I wouldn't either. I just can't believe other teams would be stupid to not offer a 2nd rounder at least. no team in their right mind would take a bad contract for bass.

If I'm the GM of a contender, I'm trading for Brandon Bass.  I think I'd be willing to give up a 1st round pick if I get a little something extra.

Which contender needs that hole filled on the roster, though?

Yeah, GS declined using their TPE to absorb Bass and they let it expire instead. I can't imagine the asking price for Bass is all that high.

That being said, I have no idea what Danny expects as compensation. Bass is a good player on an expiring contract. Does he simply want to trade him and Bogans for a competent center (Sanders, Pekovic) or is he still trying to give him away without receiving anything in return? What teams still have cap space who would have an interest?

Teams looking for a backup PF can still think about signing Elton Brand or Shawn Marion, or maybe they want to gamble on Michael Beasley, or maybe they like Charlie Villanueva as a cheap veteran option or Josh Harrellson as a cheap young option, or maybe they think combo forward Dante Cunningham is a decent fit despite coming off of a domestic violence issue.

There are options out there, so teams shouldn't be in a rush to trade anything significant for Bass.

sad but true.  I suspect the opportunity to move Bass is at the trade deadline when injuries and/or other teams' "Plan A" free agent doesn't work out and those teams need someone competent to back up the forward spot.

considering he did a respectable job guarding Lebron when matched up with him, Bass will probably gain interest from someone that wants another option to guard Lebron in the playoffs.

Bass is solid and every season there seems to be a decent amount of injuries . I would like to trade him now but I don't think we can. Maybe we get a call if someone gets injured for another team.

Excluding a few, the Celtics are compiled of extremely good backup players.

Not terribly surprising, slightly overpaid undersized "stretch" 4 that doesn't shoot 3's. He played well for us but he doesn't really fit the team and would take too many minutes away from the young guys we're trying to develop.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

What about clippers?

They have Glenn Davis already, the guy we had traded to get Bass.

Bass, Green and Wallace are worth more to this team not playing for it than they are actually playing for it.
Do you not see the difference between 1/2 a year left on a contract and 1.5 years left on a contract?  Especially post-CBA with shorter contracts?

His value only goes up as more time goes by.  Simple supply and demand.  The longer we wait, the more injuries there will be, the more teams will need him.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Well, I can tell you with strong amount of certainty that Ainge doesn't honestly think he can trade Bass and Bogans for players of Sanders or Pekovics' level.

Dallas.

They have Dirk and Chandler, who are each capable of 30-35 minutes, and then nobody.  They have Brandon Wright and Ivan Johnson after voiding Lewis' contract.  And Tyson isn't exactly known for his health.

IIRC, GS didn't use it because they were still in the hunt for Love.  Minny kept them twisting in the wind.  until GS knew (maybe they still don't) they weren't getting Love, they couldn't afford to take on salary.  I firmly believe that if GS knew for certain they couldn't land Love they'd have snatched up Bass with part of that TPE.  he'd be pretty solid in their frontcourt rotation.
