For the right price you sign him. Always thought he was over rated but I do like how he takes it the hole. Sign him offer Philly a pick to take Wallace and you have done well. ;D

Not sure if serious about the Wallace part, but obviously that's not happening.

I'd use the word wishful! I have read that Philly is willing to take on a bad contract for compensation, and we do have a plethora of picks. But right now I'd say not very likely unfortunately.

They are willing to, but it would likely cost at least two first rounders, and probably not protected ones at that.  Wallace's contract is bad, but you didn't think we actually got 3 first-rounders for 1 year of Paul Pierce and the shell of Kevin Garnett.  We got a couple for Wallace.

Next year it will only cost one pick to dump Wallace.  That's the time to do it, when we're on the verge of a free agent signing, and not before.

Are we able to use the newly acquired TPE from Washington to help with getting Turner?

As it was already discussed in this thread, it's not going to help much. But yes, we can, theoretically.

As said elsewhere in this thread, we could,, but it would be unnecessary.  The TPE is for up to about $4.3 million (depending on Hump's contract), and we still have the MLE, which can offer up to $5.3 million, and doesn't require us to engage in a trade with Indiana.  I'd imagine we'd use part or all of the MLE if we did pursue Turner, and save the TPE to acquire a player from a team dumping salary at the deadline, as the MLE can't be used for that purpose.

No, Turner is an unrestricted free agent.  The Pacers did not tender him a qualifying offer, as it would have been $8.7 million.

Curious: What's the attraction to him? His age? I have heard bad locker room/attitude things about Turner and would love to hear a pro-Turner position.

I am still undecided.

He's talented somewhat. We need talent.

He's cheap.

He's got talent.  I agree with you on the locker room issue.  Like everything, it depends on the price and the fit.  Right now, with Green and Wallace, the fit isn't there.  Without Green, at least there's an opening for minutes.  Then it would depend on price, which in this case is salary only, and not other assets.

For some guys, it just takes longer to click.  Id love to have Gerald Green back, for instance.  Turner is a playmaker capable of taking over a game.  If the opportunity makes sense from a price and available minutes standpoint, I'd like to see him get a chance here.  He will somewhere.

Based on what I read in the Grantland piece, no price would work for me.  He has issues.

If Turner comes cheap, ie MLE or one of our lower TPEs then yes, why not.  He's only 26 and has a little room for improvement still.  Let's see how he fits in with Brad Steven's offense.  He's one of the few players on the roster who could create his own shot and he's not a bad passer either, averaging 3.1 assists per game over his career so far.

This also gives the Celtics flexibility in the eventuality that they want to move Jeff Green.  At least they will have a competent SF on the roster and won't have to depend on Wallace in a starting role.

If Turner does sign a short-term make-good deal, I don't think he'll do it in Boston unless Jeff Green is already gone.  He can't make-good if he's stuck on the bench.

I don't buy into the Locker room attitude issues because that's stuff that happens on every team, nor does that make or break a team.  Greg Popovich players think he's one of the biggest jerks at times but they've learned to deal with it and be professional.  I think Turner's attitude comes rom him wanting to be "the guy" so he asserts himself in away that comes across negative.  He's had a learning disability and speech impediment, and whatever other issues he has.  There comes a point where it needs to be wieghed up, do we want a buddy or someone that can help the team.  "im sure we all have people we dont wanna work with but at some point you need to put that aside, work together and do your job.  It's called growing up.
