If he gets a deal around the 3year/12mill mark, i think that's quite the bargain. The kid played pretty well at Philly, but clearly didnt fit into the defensive scheme of Indy. If he plays well in Boston, that's a great trade asset to have or building piece to keep. If he plays bad, well he'd still be only a small cost on the books.

I think Rondo wouldnt let Turner become a problem. RR is the ultimate alpha and Turners antics wouldn't fly, no matter the youth of the team.

I'm not sure what his actions are explained by-- a mental disorder or even just poor character-- but regardless of the explanation, it does seem like a real problem that would effect our team. If that's really the case, I don't want him on our team despite what kind of player he can be.

This might sound ridiculous, but seriously, guys, if you had to choose between Green and Turner to be your starting sf next season, who do you go with?  This is actually a pretty tough one for me to answer, haha.  We know what and who Green is, while Turner is still relatively young, would be far cheaper, and has a lot more upside - if only because he actually plays aggressively.  It seems as though I've talked myself into signing Turner haha.  On the other hand, Green doesn't rock the boat, so, yeah...

I'd be more willing to take on a guy like Turner if PP and KG were still here. Guys like Turner could hurt a young team, and all of DA's work to getting nice young talent for assets go right down the drain.

While Green drives me nuts with his hot/cold games, like you said he doesn't rock the boat.

I'm dreaming of something like a S&T with Indy/Minni/Bos. We of course get Love. Minni gets Turner,Sully, plus filler/assest. Indy could get some expirings for Stephonson, and a Bass or Humps, Thorton, what ever it took out side of Rondo.

Bottom line would be let Minni have the headache! LOL

Agreed, TP.  He could turn things around, you never know.  At least he isn't Artest.  Now that guy, imo, is as close to crazy as they come.  It always seems like he could implode at any time, like when he said he was reformed and all that and then proceeded to give James Harden a concussion with an elbow on national television.  The announcers were talking him up prior to that, btw, and then it was like the air went out of the telecast.  Isn't it great that he'll be an assistant coach on a GIRL'S high school basketball team next year (sarcasm)?  Unbelievable ::)

I cannot remember which thread it was where Who said he'd like another ball handler behind Rondo and Smart. Would be interested on his thoughts.

Evan Turner is interesting. Very talented and we need talent.

You wouldn't expect Rondo to be a *bad off ball player but I recall Stevens calling him a good catch-and-shoot shooter, in contrast to most lead guards who can only shoot well off the dribble. iirc Rondo's jumpers are highly assisted.

From the little I've seen of Smart, he also seems to work well off the ball, as a "1.5 guard" at this point.

Then you have the Stevens factor. (But, of course, Turner has played under some solid coaches...)

And there's also the potential for Turner to make Green, AB or even Marcus Smart expendable. Turner himself could also be a trade piece. Gives us flexibility if done right.

All in all the kind of low-risk-high-reward move that we could use, in my humble opinion.

I'm with you on Evan as another ballhandler, I thought he was more of a point-forward than anything during his good days in Philly, probably why he didnt work out in Indy where they expected him to be a bench scorer.. But i think this only makes Green expendable, because Evan's won't be making rookie money like marcus and definitely doesnt provide D like AB (at 23yrs old).. If Evan comes and stays, I expect Jeff to be on the way out.

Evan Turner is the best remaining SF out there in FA. He wouldn't be a bad pickup for the Celtics if we do go for him. Not saying I fully support getting Turner, but maybe a culture change with the Celtics & Stevens can help him mature. Also he did avg 14 pts, 3 assists and 5 rebounds last year. Could provide depth at SF.

He's the best SF remaining out there at FA, so I can understand the interest for the celtics. They are a bit thin at SF behind Green and Wallace.

I think this is more kicking the tires on Turner in case somebody (Atlanta?) finally steps up to the plate for Jeff Green than it is interest in adding him to the current roster.

For the right price you sign him. Always thought he was over rated but I do like how he takes it the hole. Sign him offer Philly a pick to take Wallace and you have done well. ;D

Not sure if serious about the Wallace part, but obviously that's not happening.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but something needs to be done to address the description of 'Celtics interested in Evan Turner' on the homepage of this blog.  "Could the Celtics bring in Paul Pierce 2.0?"  PAUL PIERCE 2.0!?!?!?!? :o ::)  That, that, that, is just blasphemous, okay?  How dare you, how dare you say such a thing!?!?!?  Evan Turner is not Paul Pierce!  Doug McDermott is not Paul Pierce!  Every guy who can score but doesn't have great athleticism is not Paul Pierce!  Do not insult the captain!  He is a LEGEND!  There's a reason why Tommy has called him the greatest scorer in Celtic HISTORY (which I go back and forth on, but still, haha)!  The Truth may not have been T-Mac, Kobe, or VC when it came to hops, but you know what, he had great lateral quickness and overall pretty good speed, an excellent first step, long arms that certainly aided him defensively, and the best footwork in the game at the wing position!  During that 2012 first round playoff series against Atlanta, Joe Johnson said that Paul, not Kobe, had the best footwork in the league.  I apologize for the rant, but that was really bugging me lol.  I don't believe I've ever used more exclamation marks in my life ;D

I'd be interested in signing him to a tradeable contract that can be moved at the deadline to a capped out playoff team for a second round pick using a small trade exception that team possesses.
