I feel we are guard heavy now. Another shoe must be dropping with someone going out.

right now we have rondo/smart/young/bradley/thorton
you forgot pressey, bogans, babbs, johnson

Those guys aren't getting minutes barring a slew of injuries.

all in for r rondo all in for r rondo all in for r rondo all in for r rondo all in for r rondo

Danny Ainge picking up a haul for clearing Cavs cap for them. Also perhaps delayed response to Pat Riley's "shut &^*# up" quote?

Thornton's expiring, his salary doesn't impact the Celtics' future at all.

Exactly.

Also, is this the good Zeller sibling or the bad one? This is the bad one, right?

Bad one.  One who went to UNC.
Tyler and Cody put up similar numbers. Luke is a d leaguer.

Cody Zeller has been underwhelming at best at the professional level though.

I still like Cody more as a prospect for sure (knew he would take time anyways but I believe in him).

I would hardly say Tyler Zeller is "bad" though.  As I said I like him.  He's a solid all around player and still has potential.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I hate to tell everybody I told you so but I was right a few days ago with this trade for Thornton . I love the move great job Danny. Now go get some more help.

You're absolutely within your rights. NIce call!

Nice call celticpride. I thought something with Thornton might help a deal with Minny. We take back Martin with Love and they take back Thornton's contract and another pick+ Zeller as solid 3rd big & trade asset.

Only problem is I think it must be done at same time as these deals are done- otherwise we can't trade Thornton or zeller until 2015 I believe.
We can Trade the pick immediately though I think.

Does anyone know the trade time period for these assets?

And what team would want Marcus Thornton the 3rd wheel/ part of a Kevin Love trade?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

With Bogans, Bass, Vitor, Thornton, Anthony we have over 25 mil in tradeable contracts that we could put with picks to trade for players.

Boston gets: Marcus Thornton-Tyler Zeller, Cavs 2016 protected pick. Top 10 in '16, '17 or '18. Unprotected in '19.

Yeah, I wasn't even factoring in Luke.

Cody has the higher ceiling, IMO.

I'll wait to hear details on the pick, which seems like the real potential asset, before forming a final opinion. But at worst this seems like an A-, and if the pick is a valuable one it's an A+ for Danny.

It'll be nice to see how Sully and KO play next to a real center.

Aside but the details of the pick will tell us a lot about Lebron, no? If it's an unprotected Cavs pick, for example, the Cavs probably feel confident that Lebron is returning. If they think he's staying in MIA they will send us the MIA pick or heavily protect their own.

Cody is more of a strong take it to the rim center where as Tyler is more of a stop and shoot mid range center.  Tyler, I think is a little less physical but has better touch and may be a nice fit for Bard Stevens offense.

Top-10 protected for 3 years, unprotected the 4th per Woj.

Cleveland's first rounder, not NJ's. edit: Brooklyns.

I don't see why the Nets do this to help out the Cavs, though.
