Who knows where this information is coming from.  As Ford said, the T-Wolves are playing a game:  http://www.celticsblog.com/2014/6/19/5823714/nba-trade-rumor-via-chad-ford-wolves-are-playing-a-game-kevin-love

... Look, Danny, you have a boatload of assets.  The Wolves are playing a game with you.  I'm sure they are talking a lot, but pretending not to listen to you.  But you're the one with the best assets, Danny.  There's nothing you can do that can't be done.   Nothing you can say, but you can learn how to play the game.  It's easy.

nice. i see what u did there at the end.

though i'm sure love isn't all we need.  ;D though it sure does help!
Play to win.  Always.

Hahahahaha!  We are certainly not the team with the best assets.  This is an absurd myth thats been spewed on this board for three weeks now!  Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes is simply the best haul on the market and Flip gets both of them, he wins.  Simple as that.  Not one of our picks, or any of our young guys can match those two.  Not one.

Can you provide legitimate reasons?

Other than the draft is a crap shoot?  All these future picks could end up high lottery, they could also end up in the low 20s. The shoot gets crappier the higher the picks.  Thompson and Barnes are super young and have already proven they can play in this league.  Every single player in the draft has proven nothing. Absolutely nothing.  Every year everyone thinks every kid thats getting drafted is gonna make it in this league.  None of that is guaranteed.  Thats why a 25 year old all star like Love has such value, and young guys who've proven they can play have way more value.

Yet if the Wolves accept the Warriors offer, they'll be even worse situation. They may have to pay Klay Thompson a max contract and they still have Lee's massive contract. The Wolves may not even make it to the playoffs due to being in the west. It's better to rebuild and start fresh.

I'd rather have Embiid than either Love or Melo forget going for the quick fix.

You may be correct in the long term cap situation, but they certainly would not be in a worse situation.  Nobody wants to play in Minnesota.  This is the only way they can field a semi competitive team.  Nobody is coming as a free agent.  So cap space is fairly useless to them is fairly useless.

But I come from a bit of a different school of thought than most people on this board, I think the Cavs should use the number 1 pick plus plus to get Love cause they have to make the playoffs next season and make a deep run.....

We aren't even talking quick fix then we're talking complete rebuild.  3 or 4 years at least and that's IF Embiid can stay healthy and pan out...

On Warriors/KLove: They have the hot commodity now (Klay T), and if they can squeeze extra pieces from MIN, that's the Art of the Deal...

timkawakami

It was just reported on Fleger and Mazz that Thompson's dad ALSO said that if the deal went threw that he'd have to talk his son off the ledge because he doesn't want to go there. Make's Minni want to back out a bit.

Mychal Thompson told 95.7 The Game said if he were the Warriors, he wouldn't trade Klay and hopes he stays. "I'm on my knees praying."
