if i had the option of letting the trade exception expire... or move it for Perk... I totally jump on moving it for Perk.   It's a no-brainer, really...

It's a 1 year deal... so you could utilize him as an expiring contract on potential mid-season trades.  It's almost like extending out the expiration date on the trade exception.

If the frontoffice doesn't mind taking on 9 mil in dead salary, it would make sense.  It would give them some more options at the trade deadline.

Totally agree, Perk is a shadow of his former Celtics self, but he is still a big (all be it very slow) interior body.
If there is nothing else the Cs have planned for the TE why not? OKC would do that deal in a second!

And he's Rondo's good buddy. I think he'll find his time machine as a Celtics if he ever returns. It just won't be the same without the former Big 3 that helped won the last championship.

I think his time machine is missing a few gears.

Actually, taking on an expiring with the TE is one of the few good uses of the TE. To use it to take on a longer contract is not a particularly good move for this team with the need to sign other guys (including Rondo if they decide to keep him) in the next few years.  This is why DA may not use it all, unfortunately.

(psst...the word is albeit, not all be it.)  ;)

  • GOT IT!!!
I would take Perk back for a future first from Okc

They'd have to throw something like that in for taking on dead salary. Maybe Lamb? I like the idea though rather than letting the exemption expire. It's not my money though.

It's not your money but if you watched and attended games you contributed to the Celtics making the 4th most money in the league despite putting out a bad product. As fans we deserve to have the c's use their money to add to the team long term.
