Chile is on the board.

The bad is getting worse, Casillas just couldnt go back. the defense just fell asleep. And the confidence just got dropped big time.

Spain might not make it.

I'll be really happy if Diego Costa goes scoreless in this tournament. Turned his back on his country. I can understand a player choosing to play for a different country if his own country isn't interested in using him but I hated seeing Diego Costa refuse to play for Brazil in order to play for Spain instead. In a World Cup year. In his home country! With his country having a huge hole at his position and thus giving him a great chance to play and help his nation's team. Awful.

I realize this is a bad thread to rail about blind nationalism, but I don't begrudge him his decision at all. He didn't have any say in where he was born -- he should be allowed to play for Spain, especially now that he's a Spanish Citizen.

Oof!!  I feel bad for the Russian keeper.  There have been some goal tending errors, but that was almost certainly the worst.  That was embarrassing.

You could see that coming the way he mishandled some earlier shots. Korea would have won had they ran in on a few of the earlier bobbles or just went with a "shoot and go for the rebound" strategy. I was surprised we went with Nick Rimando as our 3rd keeper, but he's better than that guy.

"That guy" is Igor Akinfeev, generally considered to be one of the best keepers in the world. You're right, though, he had a pretty bad game.

He has had a pretty tough time of it at club level the last two seasons, especially this last one.

Neither team looking comfortable building from the back. Both teams doing such a great job pressuring the defenders and holding midfielders. I think both teams would be better off being a bit more direct and knocking the ball forward quickly past the first line of pressing.

Agree 100%. Under the rules, it's his choice, and I'm sure he has his reasons.  Maybe the bigger question is why he was selected when he clearly wasn't fully recovered from his injury.

Obviously he's allowed to. Doesn't mean Who has to root for him.

Yep. Adios Espana.

Casillas just really mistimed that strike, after bringing the ball in the middle too to allow the said strike.

Another mistake by Casillas.

Terrible punch / clearance on first attempt. Put it right into danger zone.

I think Spain need more of a goal threat on the pitch. Gotta chase the game now. Need to ditch one of those two holding midfielders for someone more attack minded.

I'd like them to bring on Cesc Fabregas for Xabi Alonso.

Said it before, say it again, Spain are less effective with a conventional no. 9. They essentially lose a man in the midfield since they used Cesc as a false one before.
