Jones was great. Really impressed. I agree with the above, Bradley won't be that bad again.

Ghana were arguably the second best team even with a healthy Portugal, I think we can beat the latter. The Germany game is almost a guaranteed loss.

Agreed. Dempsey was a hero early and Brooks late, but I thought Jermaine Jones was the man of the match.

Jones isn't really suited to be a wide midfielder. Beasley was terrible behind him. It was a good win but they'll have to play better next game to advance.

Beasley is definitely another guy who I'd like to see play better in the next game.  He's never been the most skilled on the ball player, but even well into his thirties, the reason he's on the pitch is for his ability to run up and down the field all day.  Hopefully, he brings more energy up the left side in the next game.

Oh, and I feel like Jermaine Jones is suited to playing where ever he's asked to play.  Gamer.

Beasley was a fairly skilled player when he was younger. He doesn't have much left in the tank and isn't a natural defender. Jones doesn't have the speed to play out wide and is much more comfortable bringing the play back to the middle than staying wide and crossing the ball in. The attacks looked a lot better on the other side. His defensive ability did come in handy the way Beasley was playing though.

We've got to hope for cooler temps next match because we are not going to be able to run around with Portugal for 90 minutes.

Must be able to possess the ball more and I think having more energy will help with that.

He and Beckerman were all over the place, in a good way. I like the team's stolidity. The whole team didn't really play that well and they still got a good result.

I agree that the attacking looked better and more promising between Bedoya and Johnson.  I still think pace is Beasley's best attribute.  If he can't bring that consistently, then I don't see much point to him.

As far as Jones goes, his defensive ability does indeed come in handy.  Maybe you're right and he's not really a winger, but that guy needs to be on the pitch.  That much I feel fairly sure of.

Yes, he actually has good ball skills, as well as that blistering pace (not so much anymore), but of course, he was principally a winger who has now been asked to play on the back line.

I wonder if he wouldn't be more effective as a wingback in a 3-5-2?

Congratulations, US fans. It wasn't pretty, but it was well fought.

Btw, I've heard some people claim Mueller was diving before the Pepe headbutt. I think that's nonsense. If he was acting, he would've rolled around on the pitch, scream at the referee, or put his arms up in the air, but he was just sitting there and moaning he got hit in the face. Then Pepe acted like an idiot and made contact with Mueller's head. According to the rules, that was a clear red card, regardless of how hard he hit him, and a Real Madrid player should know better.

This constant complaining about the referees is getting tiresome. As I said before, I think Mazic has done a darn good job yesterday.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Not impressed by Chadli. Often mediocre at Tottenham. Not looking any better here today. Do not understand how Chadli is first choice ahead of players like Mertens and Miralles. Or even Fellaini with Witsel and/or Dembele pushing further forward.
