Rumor has it that Andre Drummond also pads his rebound stats by not playing tight d as much as he should be. He too is Hollywood. Not just in padding his rebound stats like Hollywood Love, Drummond is also dating some Nickelodeon tv star.

We need winners, and an elite shooter.

It's not a matter of black vs. white.  Ray was just a lot more athletic than McDermott.  McDermott dunked a total of something like 17 times in his college career.

Ray Allen is 2-3 inches shorter, much weaker, and never had McDermott's post game or physicality. Not saying McDermott will be as good as Ray Allen, but the tools are there. This isn't your average white boy.

I don't think that a white guy being tall, strong and physical goes against any "white boy" stereotypes.  Take Mr. Love, for example.

The traditional white boy college star is usually a somewhat one dimensional outside shooter, without McDermott's strength or complete scoring skill set.

Korver, Wally Sz, Morrison, Anderson, Steve Novak, etc.

We lump McDermott in with these guys because we don't want to get suckered into another bust, and minimize his immense and obvious advantages he has over those guys. Kevin Love faced the same thing, as did Kelly Olynyk.

Okay, enough with the references to race.  It's specifically against our rules:

It is neither necessary nor appropriate to reference a player's race when commenting on that player's play or role.

I wouldn't mind Dougie McBuckets, but I doubt that he'll still be around at seventeen.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

There's a lot of good options even if we draft 5th or 6th instead of 1-3 with that first pick.

But all this talk about Love brings up the obvious scoring similarity to McDermott. And it's not like we need Love's rebounding at the 4 spot. The only reason Sullinger doesn't average about the same rpg is because he plays significantly better defense, getting a hand up as opposed to faking it and padding stats.

With so many good stretch bigs on this roster, McDermott's post mastery would be very useful.

I was feeling that McDermott was destined to have a Wally Szerbiak career in the NBA, which is not bad at all, but not what I would want for this team.  Seeing his combo numbers does make me wonder if I am not underselling him.  I would not say he is a good alternative to Love, for starters he can't rebound like Love.  But he has an incredible ability to get his shot off from deep range. If we had some other key pieces in place, I would have no problem taking him. If he is available at 17, which is unlikely but stranger things have happened, would not be surprised to see Danny grab him.

I wouldn't take him at fifth or sixth, or even seventh or eighth.  If Danny reaches with that first pick, I'm hoping it's for Dario Saric or TJ Warren.

One way to end up with McDermott might be to end up with the 3rd pick and trade back with Philly or Orlando who both have two lottery picks. End up with 4 and 10ish instead of 3 and 17.

4 and 10:  Smart and Saric

3 and 17:  Embiid and Warren.

I'll take the latter.

NL......If this is how you feel about DM, then how do you feel about the good players in this draft?

Wally is the guy that McDermott has compared himself to:

Quote
McDermott is not comfortable comparing himself to any NBA player. He's often likened to Atlanta's Kyle Korver, who also went to Creighton. McDermott did mention former Cav Wally Szczerbiak, adding of Szczerbiak, "He's a little stronger, so I need to get a little bigger. It might sound crazy but I watch a lot of Paul Pierce just because I like his footwork. He's not the quickest guy in the world but he knows how to use his body and how to use angles to score.''
