I don't understand where this "Bradley is a chucker" mentality is coming from.
Perhaps from the fact that right now he needs 14 shots to score less than 15 points per game. Or perhaps from the fact that he's taken 450+ jump shots so far this season (of 589 shots total)? Or maybe due to the fact that 380+ of these have been from 16 feet and out?
That's a chucker alright.
Or perhaps the majority of Bradley's shots are jumpshots because that is one of the strongest attributes of his game. Who cares if he takes the majority of his shots from 16ft and out, when his long-2 FG% is above average from almost every spot on the floor, with the exception of one zone. Take another look his shot chart.
http://stats.nba.com/playerShotchart.html?PlayerID=202340 It doesn't matter how many long 2s or jumpshots a player takes if they can shoot them efficiently. With that kind of reasoning, I suppose you think Bass is a chucker too for shooting jumpshots on more than half his FG attempts?
Players have to play within their strengths, and Bradley's major strengths are defense, jumpshooting, and backdoor cuts. And without a decent pass-first PG playing alongside him for the first half of the season, obviously Bradley had to utilize his jumpshot moreso than cutting to the hoop. A lot of Celtics had to force up long 2s this season when Crawford was pounding the ball for half the shotclock on almost every play, and then forcing late passes.
And the fact that Bradley has still been able to maintain a .441 FG% while taking so many long 2s (a shot many players struggle with) shows that he is a much better shooter than people give him credit for.
