So Mut and Lou are getting excited about the Celtics losing all these games. They agree that Lee for Bayless was a good deal.

They take a view that the path of least resistance to rebuilding is get in a position to draft studs and change the trajectory of your franchise.

With all this new talent coming into the league and the way the CBA is structured, we will end up with parity a la National Football League. In fact we are trending toward parity in each conference with the West being stronger from top to bottom. But the New York teams are responding and will pass the Celtics in the standings this month. I think both of those teams are screwed long term.

Golden State, Portland and Phoenix are joining the Clippers, the Texas Teams and OKC for the playoff competition. Minnesota, Memphis, Denver, and New Orleans might be winning teams and not make the playoffs.

In the East, everyone is playoff contender save Milwaukee and I think Orlando Philly and Boston.

Listening to it right now.

I don't think they're exactly wrong although I really question their general basketball knowledge.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

They are not wrong, getting into the lottery to secure assets is the only way to rebuild.  DA has to acquire assets.  Why would anyone want this team to make the playoffs and get smashed in 4 blowouts?  That doesn't do anyone any good...

Mutt and Lou are smart enough to read the CSNNE twitters and may even do their due diligence by researching clnsradio. My thought is the Celtics can improve themselves even if it does not show up in the Won-Loss record. What I did not like last night was that the Celtics were out of the game early in the 2nd half. I think that there have been only two games like that this year. Most of the losses are like those against the Wizards, Hawks, and Pelicans where the Good Job, Good Effort marks are given to the Celtics but the talent is not there to pull out close games.

Hey Rondo take your time coming back buddy.

Miami would disagree.

first title won after acquiring Shaq.

Last couple won by signing Bron and Bosh.

having the #2 pick in Beasley didn't exactly pan out for them.

MVP of that finals Wade?  What pick was he? Why did Bron and Bosh go to Miami? Wade? what pick was he again? oh, year he was a high lottery pick...

2008 C's - turned a lottery pick ( Jeff Green ) into Ray Allen which in turn got you KG and a title.  That's how you build...

1st pick: Derrick Rose
2nd pick: Beasley
3rd pick: OJ Mayo
4th pick: Russel Westbrook
5th pick: Kevin Love
6th pick: Gallinari
7th pick: Eric Gordon
8th pick: Joe Alexander
9th pick: DJ Augustin
10th pick Brook Lopez
11th pick: Jerryd Bayless

So of those 11 top picks, 5 became big stars: Rose, Westbrook, Love, Gordon and Brook L.  I would say that 4 of those 5 are the best player on their team, with Westbrook being a second banana to Durant.  This is hardly a knock against bottoming out, especially as 2008 is considered an inferior draft to this one. Our GM isn't the type of guy who would pick Joe Alexander 8th overall, either.

I cannot name one person on either WEEI or the SportsHub that knows the first thing about the NBA. I tend to avoid those shows where they try to discuss the Celtics. It's quite a painful mix of the obvious, wrong, and just plain useless stuff.

Anthony Davis may have something to say about that.

I was about to start a topic on just how little of a grasp Tanguay seems to have on the NBA in general, but thought instead to force it in this thread.

I just watched a 2-3 minute segment with him and Kirk Minihan. When addressing who he'd most desperately like to trade I expected him to say Wallace and then bring up his contract, obvious to everyone who follows the team. Nope, he says Jordan Crawford because he thinks he's Michael Jordan and shoots too much. Then he got mad at Minihan for only thinking Rondo had a 30% chance of being traded this year. Then, he declared Green's contract basically impossible to move. It might be the worst few minutes of Celtic opining I've ever been exposed to.

If there was a game show called "Eric Bledsoe or Eric Gordon?" I would lose every round.  I've seen like ten combined NOLA and Suns games this year and I can't stop doing it for the life of me.

You'd have a hard time convincing me that many of the posters here aren't more knowledgeable about the nba than the local pundits.

The #6 pick was also part of the KG deal. While the Wolves took Flynn at that spot, Steph Curry was taken immediately after with the #7 pick.

At least WEEI makes an effort to talk about the NBA.

On the Sportshub the Celtics are basically treated as a side show.  Like, literally -- a bizarre joke of a sport / league that's injected as a topic for comic relief.
